    Default Quentin Tarantino

This guy is a genius! I love his movies. Especially "Dusk Till Dawn" and "Kill Bill." I thought Kill Bill was gonna be a stupid movie until I saw it for the first time after years of been released. I loved it so much. The stunts were off the hook, I had to watch the part 2. And now he has "GrindHouse" P.1 & 2. awesome!! quite a masterpiece...this movie is a "must see."

I agree with you regarding his skill as a writer/director. My favorite Q.T. movies:

    1) "Pulp Fiction" - endlessly quotable, shocking and original

    2) "Jackie Brown" - understated throughout, yet hilarious and menacing

    3) "True Romance" - coke, guns, gangsters & love; Q.T. wrote, Tony Scott
directed (actually the 1st script T. sold; "Natural Born Killers" was the 2nd)

Supposedly I talk like him, or so I've been told. I don't see the resemblance so much as they did, but I'll take it as a compliment.

Kill Bill 2 was one of the best movies I have seen yet, and I've seen a lot. Pulp Fiction, right up there with Hitchcock in my mind, and a lot more fun. Reservoir Dogs as well, though it's definitely more a guy movie. From Dusk 'til Dawn started out great even if it got a bit silly at the end. I am ashamed to say I haven't seen either Grindhouse yet, but I intend to ASAMFP.

But the real test of a Quarentino fan is Four Rooms. Not one of my favorites, but I liked it.

I'm not a real fan....don't like most of the movies mentioned already, but I LOVE Resevoir Dogs. Fantastic movie, superbly acted.

Umm, C_K, you have it backwards. Tarantino directed Death Proof, which is the second Grindhouse flick.

Edit: I own Kill Bill (1 & 2). Uma Thurman looks amazing throughout these movies.

^^Yes, I haven't seen the Grindhouse flicks either, but from what I've been told by most, Tarantino's Death Proof, paled in comparison to Planet Terror.

I guess I'm in the minority here. I think he's nothing short of a self-centered ass with no creative ability.

    But hey, that's just me.

I think he has creative ability. The image of the fight in the snow from Kill Bill sticks in the visual cortex. He should allow some flexibility/verite on his dialogue. It's getting formulaic.

But he is a self-centered ass. Djoser, I hope they meant that your speech pattern was like his, or else I wouldn't take it as a compliment. When he talks, his self-absorption is palpable.

I may not think he's the greatest ever, and I can see some criticisms of him as fair, but I'm a fan, I must say. My personal favorite is Reservoir Dogs by far, though I'm also deeply fond of Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill and others. In Grindhouse, I enjoyed his (Death Proof) much more than Planet Terror - Death Proof dragged a bit at the beginning, but what a payoff!

Before I saw any of his movies, I saw him on TV being interviewed. I thought he was odd. Very. Like a crazed movie buff who'd spent too much time alone with himself. (This may also be the case.) But he is talented. And regarding his dialog. Yes, it's stilted but memorable.

Tarantino's was indeed the car one. Best car chase scene ever! And I love that he was so totally committed to doing it with NO digital effects whatsoever, old-school seventies-style.

CE, I've also seen him interviewed, and yeah, YEESH. But same thing goes for a lot of other major talents. I think Prince is a musical genius, just to cite one example, but I've heard interviews with him where he comes across as dumb as a post: His intelligence and his gift is in his art. I'd say it's similar with Tarantino. Lord knows I'd hate to be trapped in a corner at a party with him while he yammered on about some obscure Hong Kong cinematographer, but I'll watch and re-watch any of his movies.

I too, loved HIS segment of Four Rooms. I thought the others were weak, with the exception of the Rodriguez one, which had its charm. (And Tim Roth was great throughout.)

Yep..esp since the one chick at the end(the kiwi) was an actual stunt person...not an actor...so everything you saw her do .,.she actually did!!

Quentin Tarantino's mouth makes me squirm in the most uncomfortable way. He has a creepy mouth. *shudder*
However, his movies KICK ASS! If fact, Grindhouse is what I am buying my little bro for x-mas. If you have the DVDs, you must watch the extras if you haven't already.

youre close hardkandee, he is a massive ass (think JP from Grandamas Boy, on a bigger scale) but he is an incredible filmmaker. But then again, thats Hollywood, most incredible filmmakers are complete fuckwads.

I've never seen an interview with him on TV, I've only seen him talking in a few movies, like the beginning of Reservoir Dogs. And of course he talked a bit in from Dusk til Dawn, but he was a bit of a geek in that one.

I know the people who compared me to him meant it as a compliment. I never thought of it that way, even if I like his movies a lot. I mean there is a vague resemblance physically, but I am way better looking than he is, lol. I do tend to use my hands a lot expressively when I talk, which he apparently does.

What do you think, Cameron, do I talk like him?

OK I am confused now about Grindhouse. He only directed one of them? It was the better one of the two?

Yes..he only directed the car one...the zombie one was directed by Roderiguez

I dont really see any resemblance in appearance or voice to be honest....but he usually talks so fast it's difficult to tell!

I actually thought the RR movie was the better of the two Grindhouse films, although I'd call neither one awesome.

By the admission of many cast members, both QT and RR practically co-directed on each other's projects.

Until the "action" got started in Death Proof, the movie about put me to sleep. Just a bunch of mundane conversation from women getting drunk and high or chatting mundanely about their experiences in the fashion biz.

    Ending was cool though.

I was obsessed with QT in high school. Everyone joked that I would grow up to marry him, and my style as a filmmaker definitely bears the mark of cutting my baby filmmaker teeth on Tarantino films. When I was a teenager, QT was my idol and my inspiration.

And then I saw Jackie Brown in my early twenties. I went home and cried.

Since then I guess he's okay; I did really enjoy Death Proof. But now all he does is make a career out of being Tarantino, and he has nothing original left to say. All he does is jerk off to himself and his favorite old movies, and it's embarassing to sit through hours of onscreen masturbation. I guess he said everything he had to say and now he's got enough money to just splooge on celluloid, so... I guess if that's what he wants to do and people will pay to see it, okay. *sigh*
