    Default Hair question

I'm getting my hair done in a week or two, and I think I want to dye the top a bright fun red (had my whole head that way before and it looked hot) and the bottom part black. Forgive my layman's terms please! First off, is this a good idea? And second, if I wanted it longer would I just get black clip in extensions or would I have to get the red colored clip in ones too?

You mean dye half of your hair red and the other lower half below the ears black? I just changed my color to brown on top and very dark brown underneath. Its my way of rebelling against having one color for my hair.

If yes, then use two different types of colored extensions with them blended for a better look.

Yeah! That's what I meant.. I'm tired of the boring same color look. May be tricky to find the red color, so I may have to skip out on the clip-ins. Thanks!

I have done the very very blonde on top and dark dark black under. Looked hot, but black fades....Red....never seen it on top with dark below.

A picture of anyone who wears it maybe? I'm confused.

Whoa! Your hair is a gorgeous color. I wouldn't change it, but I've seen bright red and black before and it's cool.

Be prepared to touch up the red every week or so. It fades to a really atrocious orange.

Not only does the black fade but red turns an ugly pinky color... i had to redo my girlfriends hair every 2 weeks (brown on top and red underneath)

EDIT: haha Yek... we posted at the same time!

I've dyed my hair various shades of red before and since I'm a natural redhead it just gradually washes out without the weird colors.

I'm not sure if I want to do the red and black.. Any other suggestions for something totally different?

I dont think fading is too big of a deal, especially since you know the red will look fine faded or not on your head. The only thing about black is that its hard to get it lighter again without really damaging it.

I know how it feels to want to do something new and different, so i say go for it. I think it'd look good

I suggested in a previous forum trying some temporary color. It washes out in a couple of washes. That way you can play to see what you like. I don't know what type of "look" your going for but maybe try looking at some hair magazines as well to get ideas. You look like you have nice hair now. Extensions can be damaging if not done properly. And if you do get them done properly are very expensive. Also if you decide to color you hair black please be careful. Since you are so light now your hair will take on the black very strong and rapidly. I recommend getting some books, deciding what you want and taking it to a stylist you trust.
