    Default Another weight loss question...

Ok, so I know this has been covered extensively already but I have a pretty specific question.
2 Years ago I was a waif and the doc put me on a weight gain diet, it worked very well and i put on over 27 kg's but I hated it so i stopped. After being overweight for a short (horrible) while, I've lost about 6 kg's recently to be at my current weight of 64kg's (I'm 5'3" and a half) and i'm stuck, I'm hardly losing anything.
Now I naturally consume about 1300 cals on average a day (the weight gain diet was difficult for me), this is just my normal diet, I'm a lifelong vegetarian, I don't eat much dairy, I don't have a sweet-tooth and I don't like starchy or refined bready stuff. My lifestyle is pretty active (although i've had 2 weeks off with the flu and a short jaunt in amsterdam) so I probably burn about twice as many calories as i'm taking in on an average no proper excercise day, my bowels aren't too great but they're working & I'm taking apple cider vinigar, Tonalin and an amino acid at night but no weight loss???
    I'm stumped
Has being so thin in the past stuffed me for good? I'm confusabobulated, help?

I am not sure of the kg to lbs. conversion but I am guessing like 120? I am the same height as you are. I consume about 1400 calories daily. I am 29 and as I get older I find it harder to maintain my weight. I think exercise helps tremendously when you feel as though you are at a plateau or not losing as much as you like. Sometimes too if you body isn't getting enough nutrition or after a bout of being underweight your body will hold on to the extra fat because it's preparing for starvation.

Yay, replies. I hear ya greenidlady, but i thought that after more than two years of eating properly my body may have over come the 'starvation mode' by now. Any clues on how to help this? Oh, and i'm 24, shouldn't be getting the 'middle age spread' yet should i? Or you for that matter! My job at the moment leaves me very little time to excercise, i know that sounds like a cop-out but i'm on pretty unique hours. AAargh, so frustrating. I'm thinking of doing a 'clean out' if you catch my drift, might get things kick-started.

Sorry ALee, I am impatient *blush*

No, your weight gain certainly wouldn't be related to your age. Are you on any new meds? I mean even if you owned a piece of cardio equipment or did pilates at home this would help. I do pilates at home. There are also 24 hour gyms around. If your diet is good and it's been two years since you were sick then exercise would be your best bet for continued weight loss and fitness. Have you had your blood checked recently? How is your thyroid?

I take certain meds which make it a bit harder for me to keep my weight off. I started the gym and made a lifestyle change for myself at 24 which has kept me at a constant 108 or less since.

No i'm drug free, have been for about a year for the first time in my life (yay). Without going into too much detail, i kinda work 24/7, technically i get 3 hours off during the day, i do this for several weeks then take a couple weeks off, sucks balls i know, but it will be over soon.
I try to go for a short jog, or jump rope in the mornings for about 10-15 mins and i do about 20 mins of pilate's and some crunches and squats during the day, i was swimming heaps but it makes the whole day a rush and i'm not allowed to get in the pool anymore.
I'm not sure about my thyroid but i had my full bloods done a couple months ago and they were all really good. I'm about to start the contraceptive pill 'yasmin' which will hopefully help if it's hormonal? (i get hormonal acne pretty bad).

    64kg's is about 141lb's *sigh*

No, but interestingly enough I had an 'extra' lymph node removed during other neck surgery when i was 18. I know the lymph node would have jack to do with it but it's very close by and they did alot of pushing and pulling and stuff in there during about 4 hours of surgery. I think i might be needing this on the other side now. I was scrawny up until 22 tho so i don't know if there would be any correlation. I should know but what does a thyroid panel entail?

Yasmin made my hormonal acne worse. And I was constantly hungry, I gained 8 lbs. in 2 months and am struggling to get it off again.
