Default Men---What do you want for the holidays??

I need ideas. I went to nordstrom to get my new man something bought a money clip because it looked classy and he always has loads of cash and it's so disorganized but when I told my sister what I got him she said, "that says 'I know you have money and I like it!'" That's not the statement I want to make. Tell me what is on your holiday wish list please!!

Eh, I got K a money clip last year and he loves it.

But yes, I too would like to hear what the men want. I found one good silly gift for K but I would like to get him something else substantial.

I wouldn't worry too much about the money clip--men are usually proud of their ability to earn a living and don't mind a woman noticing it.

Otherwise, maybe it is best to appeal directly to an interest of his--in my case, I love books and movies, and each is a new adventure...a girlfriend of mine once gave me a special edition of Fitzgerald: another gave me a book by a poet I revere, along with a picture of her--my girlfriend--in the pages. These are gifts I still turn back to after ten years. Maybe your guy likes a particular sport and there are films or books that relate to that--something he can immerse himself in and that tells him you're all right with that fact that he's a football nut.

I'll bet the best gift you can give him--truly--is time with you. Hope some of this is a help!

Money clip is a good gift. And it doesn't have to be used solely for money.

I am most certainly running of of gift ideas for my SO...I've already used the money clip, first edition memorabilia, pocket watch, electronic gadget, and meaningful necklace cards. Gift giving is so complicated.

I think I'm getting my man a BlackJack this year, but I've heard him talking about how great it seems, so I got it easy.

I think a money clip is a good idea though I'd make sure to explain why I got it just in case he thinks the same way as your sister.

For my man, if I had the money (super tight right now), I'd probably buy him a new outfit or get him a gift card to do it on his own (he loves to dress nicely and hasn't been able to afford anything new in a long time) and take him out to a nice restaurant that served steak since he's been craving it forever. Once we got back, I'd probably have a box of random WOW stuff because he loves that game so much. I'd also buy him "Planet Earth." We watched one episode of it on tv and he was acting like a little kid in a candy store. I'd fill the fridge with Corona (his favorite and he always begs me to get some at the grocery store but we can't afford it) so he could drink that while watching it too.

I'd say find a hobby of his and go for it...depending on the hobby there can be items that are alittle more $$$ and may not spend the money....I know for me that happens with my hobby allot.

Gadgets/electronics are always good for a guy.

    money clip/Front-pocket wallet

If he has an Ipod/Mp3 player, acceories for it...

    GPS device

    Books

    magazine subscription

thats all I have at the moment

A thread asking for Men to reply and it gets no action here. Hello irony, how have you been?

Lets see. Me? I love hiking, camping, the outdoors, DIY outdoors projects, ancient tech, firearms, Self reliance projects, Science fiction (Heinlein, Phillip K. Dick, Keith Laumer, David Weber, John Ringo) , Fantasy (J.R.R. Tolkien, Anne MacCaffrey, Piers Anthony, and several others).

Hiking guides of places I have talked about.
One piece of high end kit that would be so much better than I have. Titanium cook set?
a new mountain bike or upgraded components.
    A black smith class.
a better firearms cleaning set up? a tipton gun vise? one or two Dewey one piece cleaning rods?
Homesteading books from the late 1800s? Like first editions?
A signed copy by any of the mentioned authors...........

I am a tool addict. So a tool belt from Sears by craftsman, bucket buddy, the 500+ piece mechanics tool set.

    Does this help?

I have a little problem with the gift giving for the (sort of) boy, as in; he's not into 'material' things, doesn't dress fancy (he's such a dag), not huge on the sports memorabilia, doesn't wear jewellery, has hobbies which don't require props and prolly doesn't have enough cash for a money clip. I haven't seen him in sooo long and he's one of those "just having you here is good enough for me", which is really sweet but what on earth do i give him?

Sorry, i'm no help, sexual favours always work tho ;-)

SGT gave me an idea, would this thread be of better help if we listed what we want individually? I say this because we can all mention in broad strokes what guys want. But, if we list what we would like, it becomes more specific, and perhaps could jog some ideas for some of you?

Buy us ties, we love getting ties. gotta love those decorative nooses

But seriously, we make enough to buy anything we want for ourselves. Just buy us something that you think we'd like that shows you put a little thought into it. Most gadgets are also a safe bet. Check out thinkgeek.com--they have some cool gadgets. What guy can resist an air cannon, or a mini r/c helicopter?

My man could resist, he doesn't own like, anything, just books and pictures, he just isn't big on ....stuff. This is a recurring problem for me, my dad and brother and best friend are the same, aaargh, think i would've figured it out by now huh.

I thought maybe a personalised pen would be nice, this could work for you too Natalie. I found some nicer ones yesterday but i lost the link, whoops, prolly easy to find tho.

I thought this was a cute too, a little useless perhaps but hey.

Scarlett, if you don't mind me asking, what does your bf do for work? I'm not saying get him something for work, but, for example a leather carrying-case would be nice....

Guys can be hard sometimes. I agree with the others though...go for something related to what he enjoys. What kinds of interests does he have?

If he's a sports guy you could always get him football or baseball tickets, especially if he doesn't go to games that often.

    good luck!

Oh yeah. They're the cheapest kind, just look in the Broke Neurotic Nympho section. I think they're right between the Tanya Trailertrash dolls and the cheap Australian wines.

    Every guy sure does need:

plus they come with a free gift...a swift kick the ass.
