So I finally got the courage to go in and get on stage. I did a lot of research first and stopped by the club prior to scope it out before going in for amateur night this past Wednesday.
The staff seemed helpful and the DJ was awesome at making me feel comfortable. All the girls seemed friendly (well except one.. but I guess every job has people like that) and talked with me when we had a moment. They were especially helpful in informing customers that it was my first time when I was on stage making them tip me better. And being on stage was so much fun that I forgot how nervous I was.
Talking to the customers was a little difficult because it seemed like most of the girls already knew them and I had been informed by another dancer that regulars are how they make money so I didn't wanted to interrupt. Then, when I did sit with a guy I found conversation to be pretty dry and a lot of customers asked what school I went to. I found a lot of topic starters throughout the site but not too much about how to handle questions like that without having to end the conversation. Any quick suggestions besides lying?
In all, it was a great experience and I'm now on their schedule so I'll be there tonight.I'll probably end up working at a club that's closer but they're still in the process of reopening it so I guess I'll gain some experience here for now.
