    Default Eating clean and daily splurging

    I got that "The Eat Clean Diet" book and am really giving eating clean a good try. I have always wanted to do it, as I carry almost ALL my weight right in the stomach area. My biggest downfall is Dr. Pepper.

    So my question is how bad is one 12oz Dr. P a day in regards to eating clean and getting really toned. I dont really want to be "ripped" in body building regards, just look super hot in a bikini.

    Will one Dr. P a day really inhibit that? I only want to lose about 15-20lbs (5'7 163 currently, large frame) but I really want a FLAT stomach and maybe some muscle definition. And I seriously gotta build a butt cause I look like a pudgy upside down triangle.

    One Dr. P a day or am I kiding myself???

    Thanks!!

    As long as you count the calories from the Dr Pepper and stay under your limit - including beverages - then you will be just fine you beverage of choice.

    Have you tried Diet Dr Pepper? I know its not exactly the same, but its damn close. Might be a good way to diet and get your fix

    CALORIES HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH FAT!!!!

    Drop the Dr. Pepper. It is LOADED with sugar. If you MUST have a Dr. Pepper, make a "free day" where you can eat/drink whatever you want and then go back to your "usual" clean eating for the next week.

    Here's some tidbits for you:

    Drinking too much soda causes:

    * Energy dips and symptoms of depression
    * Massive dehydration with all the problems that causes.
    * Addictive like binging and craving linked to the come down after having a sugar high and craving to take on more sugar again.
    * High blood pressure
    * Inability to focus and concentrate
    * Rotting of the teeth
    * Cola confuses the appetite regulating systems in the body leading to increased appetite and weight gain (above and beyond the fat encouraging sugars in the soda itself)
    * Regular soda drinking attacks the marrow in the bones making them weaker and encourages organ breakdown leading to potentially life threatening diabetes.
    * Weakening of the bones in a study of 460 high schoolers in 2000, research at the Harvard School of Public Health found that girls who drank carbonated soft drinks were three times as likely to break their arms and legs as those who consumed other drinks.
    * Rapid aging of the skin and body generally.

    I would advise against drinking diet. Aspartame (and other artificial sweetners) are extremely bad for your health and cause a host of other health problems.

    If you need to drink something carbonated, get carbonated water and add fruit. Other than that, stick to drinking water all the time and within a few weeks your soda cravings will be gone...and you may not really even like the super sweetness of the soda when you do drink it.

    Besides the above listed problems with it. I *think* I heard that sodas contribute to cellulite. I think that's reason enough to skip sodas! That bit of info might be wrong, but why flirt with that possibility?

    drink it if you really love it. if you deprive yourself you will be miserable, stress, and gain weight anyway.

    now, don't drink it everyday. give it to yourself once a week. a can for being so good to yourself! after a while you won't really want it anymore.

    and that's the trick i used to lose 30+ pounds recently.

    I've read in multiple places that with soda, including diet, You up your chances of developing type 2 diabetis by 50% or more if you have more than 2 sodas a MONTH.

    I wanna know about eating clean but I don't wanna buy the book! lol Share a few details please!!!

    I've been working out for the last 2 or 3 weeks, but I haven't changed my eating much because I can't stick to any diets for various reasons. I have been avoiding sodas and eating a little less, but I know that can't make much difference. But maybe the clean eating thing is something I can stick to?

    Not to break your bubble, but flavored carbonated water IS diet soda, lol...think about it...it's just not colored. It's bubbly seltzer with asparatame and other sweetners.

    Although, I really am the devil here. I drink a ton of diet (why lie) and regular sodas. I am sure it's bad, but to be honest, I am a pretty clean eater other wise. It's my sin. I can't imagine that if you are eating really well, that one diet soda (having 130 calories or so) would really impact your day.

    Eat clean and exercise and then you can reward yourself 1-2 times a week. Drinking it everyday makes it a part of your diet and limits your progress to achieving your goals. Additionally, the more you eat clean and exercise, without indulging, the more likely you will be to want to stay away from soda completely because you will feel so much better.

    Well yes, calories do have something to do with being fat. Obviously.
    It's not the greatest for your health, but if you keep your calories in check, you can lose weight eating pretty much anything. So you have it, but in moderation. Of course, you'd be healthier not drinking soda at all for numerous reasons...
