LOL yeah!! It's about body mass. Also, it takes about 1 1/2 hours for a woman's body to get completely rid of a drink (shot, glass of wine, tall glass of beer), but it takes an hour for men.

And we metabolize differantly because our muscle to fat ratio is differant (we have more fat so we hold onto the alcohol longer)

When you take into account that so many women also eat far less then men...

    DUH we get drunk faster.

Though its all individual....I can drink most men under the table...but I'm a big girl and Im Irish...alcohol is in my blood

Probably true statistically, but like the others said, statistically women are smaller or weigh less; different body/muscle rations and statistically different BMRs. You'll find exceptions of course, and if you compare the smaller men against bigger women it may not hold up, but, really, so what? Being able to drink the most really isn't something to brag about seriously, and hey, it's a benefit... it means you can spend less on booze and get more out of it

Here is a blood alcohol content calculator. Very informative.

I believe that. My SO is the tallest yet skinniest dude I've ever seen (like, I outweigh him by about 25 pounds) and even though neither of us ever drink he can plow back five drinks to my one. He barely feels it and I'm on the floor.

Hee, that calculator was from my former college!

And I am pretty much the lightest lightweight I know...except for my husband, who outweighs me by almost 100 pounds and is giggly after a single wine cooler. He almost never drinks, though.

It has to do with tolerance, muscle mass, and a lot of other factors as to how fast you get drunk. A lot of people think if you eat crackers or bread that it will help sober you up...that's bull shit. If anything you eat meat, because muscle/meat absorbs alcohol.

Well, even if you eat something to "absorb" it, it's still going through your system, right? Does anyone know why eating something will make you feel better when you've had too much to drink? Also, I heard that milk works well for hangovers. I dunno why, though.

Mortal women? Sure. But more than one petite dancer has drunk me under a table--and, no, they were definitely not ordering fake cocktails.

I drink tequila like no one else I know. Maybe it doesn't absorb in my body or something. It's impossible for me to even get a buzz on it. I've tried.

Everything else get's a 2 drink minimum. 2.5 is pushing it. 3 means someone needs to carry me home.

    I'm BARELY 5 feet.
