Default No Country for Old Men

This was the best movie I've seen in a very long time. It was so clever and disturbing. I love films that mess around with narrative expectations. It was like some excellent Greek tragedy...That's not really a spoiler, because you know where the story is more or less headed right from the opening scene. Still, I can often tell where a story is headed, but this was just suprises everywhere. It really made me think about things like violence and evil and how amazing Kelly MacDonald's Texas accent was.

Also, there was this brief scene with a lady who I thought was Susan Wayward for like two seconds. It was from far away, but it really looked similar. Probably just all that Texasness though...it was on the brain.

    Has anyone else seen it?

YES!! Javier Bardem is both hilarious and menacing. Josh Brolin is hot and Woody Harrelson is surprisingly charming and fun.

    It's Tarrentino with brains.

Was that the hotel pool scene?

I was VERY disappointed with this movie, but I suppose it's because I read the book first... and that's usually what happens when I read the book FIRST. I am a huge Cormac McCarthy fan. If you liked the movie, you will LOVE the book. McCarthy is a literary genius. ("The Road" is on my top five list)

"The Road" was amazing. But it's not suitable for the faint of heart.

I really loved this film for the terrific acting, the cinematography, and just for how RAW it was. It was really gripping.... and poetic.

Yeah, the girl hitting on Brolin. I mean, it was from far away, but for whatever reason I was like "hey, it's Susan W.!"

I'm a Cormac McArthur fan and a Coen Bros. fan, so I can't wait to get my butt to the theatre to see it!

It just opened in theaters here in Guam today. Imma try to see it soon. I absolutely loved the book and how devastatingly it proceeded...

I saw it the night it came out and loved it! It was especially fun to watch it in a crowded theater... I love it when everyone gasps at the same time.

Just a warning, though... this movie features some next-level violence. It wasn't all the shooting and killing that bugged me, it was the parts where people were injured in various ways and like, trying to deal with it by themselves in their hotel rooms... very realistically too, I thought... GAG. But in a way that was one of the things that made the movie work. It really makes you think about violence viscerally.

I joked with my date that this film taught me how to act like a real man.

Got a gunshot wound to the leg? Fuck going to the hospital... blow up a car (for the distraction) and rob a pharmacy.

That'll put hair on your chest!
