    Default Craptastic! I'm nervous!

K, last night was a VERY VERY VERY bad night at work. No money anywhere, and I would go out on a limb to say 80% of the girls barely made their house fee and tip out back.

    By 12:30 last night I had $60. That's it.

Then I got lucky! A guy wanted to go to CR with me! Whoop! great! Then while up there he asked the hostess if he could tip me on the card "but ofcourse!" he says how much should I give her? she says "Oh, give her $500, she's a nice girl" and winks, totally joking around, I laughed, he laughed, we all laughed.

Then he wrote $500 on the credit slip!
So I pulled her aside and told her thank you so much, that was awesome and thank you again!

Forward to the end of the night. I'm in the dressing room to haul ass and get dressed so I can run to the back bar and collect my money, like we do EACH AND EVERY TIME we go to CR.....then she coms into the very crowded, very pissed off dressing room and proceeds to count my money out in front of all these pissed off girls! Ack! No! Stop!

So, I pull the money I had made earlier from my pocket and hand it her, it was $60. Then shove the stack she gave me in my other pocket so I can go through it when I didn't have a bunch of girls around me who had jsut had a terrible money night.

The hostess RAN to the manager, told him that I only tipped her 60 when she pulled me a 500 dollar tip. The manager RAN to the house mom and told her. And as I was buttoning my coat, ready to head out the DR door to go find the hostess the house mom says "You pissed off the manager by not tipping your hostess very much, after all, she's the one who made you the $500, you made more than any girl in this club tonight, don't you think you could show your appreciation?" IN FRONT OF EVERYONE!!!!!

For fucks sake people! K, first of all, I don't talk about my money in front of the girls. I just don't. Second of all, there are A LOT of new girls there that I don't know from a hole in the wall, and I'm not comfortable with them knowing how much I made. Third, give me a damn break! Maybe ASK me if I was planning on tipping her more before you rip me a new one. Damn!

Anyway, I bit my tongue, I said, I was planning on it, don't worry. Then I made a beeline to the back bar, found the hostess gave her two more twenties (that's a $100 tip now) and told her that next time I really don't want to do money work in the dressing room, ESPECIALLY when so many of the girls had such a bad night. It's not my style.

She says "Fck that, flaunt it, let them know you banked and let them know I helped you!" I told her, again, that's not my style, but I wanted to thank you for your help, and make sure you knew I was going to take care of you (inside my head *you greedy, tattle telling little witch!*).

Soooooo, since the manager has been looking for any reason to yell at me lately... I'm a wee bit nervous about going in tonight. I hate having to explain things to small minded people.

    /end rant.

That hostess is just greedy. (And this is coming from someone who started out as an SC waitress/bartender and waited on plenty of CRs.) Yes she deserved a tip, but not 1/5 of your earnings! If you'd actually stiffed her or handed her a $10 or something then yeah, it'd be reasonable for her to be upset. But $60 was PLENTY. I would totally have been happy with that if I was your waitress.

Even if she did help you get the tip, YOU still did all the work getting him into VIP and entertaining him.

Last time I checked the waitress's job was to serve drinks, not to be just one more person who has their hands out for the dancers' money. Personally I'm getting fed up with greedy pimp-like staff members hanging around like vultures for OUR hard-earned money, especially when they do nothing to deserve it.

I know, I really was grateful for her help, seriously. I just felt very strange doing it all in front of the other girls like that.

That, and we all know how girls can get when nights are rough, people are in bad moods....you see a girl make bank and then the rumors fly. I despise that crap. And since I don't talk money, don't flaunt my regs, etc..I never have to deal with it. Geez, this irked me.
But oh well, my biggest issue is I don't want my manager to come hobbling up to me demanding to know why I only tipper her a certain amount. I hope she went back and told him after she ran to him whining.

Well even 60 dollars to start with is over 10 percent wtf are they bitching for? I think ten percent is just dandy and that your club manager is a dickwad and I'm glad I don't work there!

Yea if you wanna get robbed later. Yea you tipped her 12% of your tip. $100 and she got to keep her clothes on. That was plenty. Thats more than most Dj's get. She can shut her trap. Ungrateful witch. I doubt she went back and told him that she was being greedy. She better not pull that crap again.

    See, normally, if I made 200, I'd give her 20, 400 - 40, etc....so yah, I wasn't trying to b skimpy with the 60 bucks, the 500 tip I got was on top of the 200 I made.

So I guess she flipped out over 10 more dollars, making it an even 10% tip. But whatever. She's a good hostess and she usually pushes guys to tip and such. I don't mind hooking her up because of that. It just sucks that she acted like that and tried to get me in trouble.

Stress will do that a person I guess.

First, she shouldn't have counted out your money in the dressing room, no.

But, to be fair, she did get you the 500 dollar tip.... Plus you really are expected to tip on the CR too... I think 150 dollar tip would be appropriate, because you have to remember, this is not a one shot deal. You're going to work with this girl over and over again, and you want to make sure she knows it worth her while to try to get you more money.

I'm just trying to shed some light on this....IMHO I know that you were probably going to give her more money later and just didn't want to make a big scene, but she didn't know it.

Now, if you would have just made the 500 dollars off the champagne room 60 bucks is a plenty fine tip...it's the fact that she hustled that extra 500 bucks for you, ya know?

Am I the only one who doesn't have a buttload of sympathy for bar staff that get a pay check on top of getting tipped out considerably by those of us who don't get a paycheck and have no guaranteed income? $60 seems pretty decent.

Exactly. When the waitresses, bouncers, house moms, etc. have to PAY to work, then we can talk about having sympathy for them not getting extravagant tips. There have been plenty of nights that the bartenders/waitresses go home with more than most dancers just b/c men love to sit at the bar for hours and flirt with the seemingly-unattainable-and-therefore-attractive waitstaff. No sympathy here either. Even though I used to bartend myself, lol.

I just want to point out that THIS^^ is where the story usually ends for me on bad nights. Go you!!

But on the flip side, it is definitely wrong of the hostess to make a scene in front of the girls. The manager has no right to say anything bad to you. If he does, you can just say you don't know what she's talking about. She got a tip, she should be happy. End of story!

WOW...I am the same way about counting my money in front of everyone. $60 is a decent tip, I don't know why she was bitching. It sounds like she was having a bad night too and wanted to take your money. I agree with Elivia^^^, sometimes the waitress walk out with more money than us!!!!

I mean, I'm all for not tipping people who didn't do shit for you, but when they directly hook you up, they do deserve a tip. I would tip at least 20% of what the waitress hustled for me.

You know, I understand the tipping concept with the VIP hostess but why do they always think that THEY made us the money. Hello there miss VIP hostess , but the DANCER is the one doing all the charming and the stripping, getting mauled etc so it should be up to the dancer to keep her earnings private if she chooses. Why wouldn't she take it up with you first. I'm disturbed by the trend of everyone pulling thier cut and more from dancers. I mean we put up with enough from custys without dealing with greedy floor hosts and power trip managers.

who the hell is to say that he wasn't going to actually tip that anyway? He did it to please you, not the hostess, OTHERWISE HE WOULD HAVE TIPPED THE HOSTESS. He would prob be upset to know that you had to give 1/5 of the tip to the host.

60 was fine. You don't work in Vegas. If you did, say 3 hrs with this guy and he tipped the 500 maybe a little more should be given but overall you are still walking with less then a k.

Less then a k doesn't warrant huge tips to anyone IMO.

A tip is a tip, you shouldn't get in trouble for tipping less than she expected. Seriously, after the show she made in the dr, I am surprised you gave her 40 more dollars.

Exactly. I would have been so mad about that that I wouldn't have wanted to tip her more after that. She should have waited and given you a minute to tip her. I'd feel the same way with making good money like that on a crappy night.

Well, to update real quick, no problems last night. The other hostess made mention of it in a round about way, but other than that. no problems.

Kaylinn and VP I agree with you two very much. Here's how I look at it. I depend on the CR, that's where I make a lot of my money. I don't have the energy nor the ability to put up with all the bullsht on the floor all night long.
And a good VIP hostess can help you make more money in the CR. so I try to take care of them, always. My biggest issue with her the other night was that she ran to the manager trying to get me in trouble!

I may not like the girl as person, but I like how she works in the CR. So, to keep that friendly and lucrative for me (I'm there sometimes more than twice a week) I keep the wheels greased. That's just how it goes.

My problems with it all: Doing the money exchange in the DR in front of everyone and running to the manager to get me in trouble.

Yeah, I agree, I don't like the money exchange thing right out in front of everyone either. But I do say, sounds just like typical strip club employees with their hands out.

I'm not seeing friendly or lucrative I'm just seeing incompetent management and extortionist support staff!!! 10% is fine and FUCK anybody who disagrees with you next time. Does that bitch pay you a cut of the tip when you order and encourage others to order from you? If not she owes YOU an ASSLOAD of cash!!!

waitresses get taxed for tips? Are you sure that happens everywhere? Because I've worked as a waitress, and that's news for me. Unless they declare it. But plenty of dancers declare their tips too. So that's a wash. Minimum wage may not be much, but it sure beats the hell out of paying to come to work. If I made minimum wage for the few shifts I work, it would be enough to pay my rent every month.

I'm not saying she shouldn't tip her. It's nice to tip something since she did "hustle" for it (though to be fair, she really just made one off hand comment that happened to work. $60 should be plenty reward for one short sentence). So, they get a paycheck, they get tipped from customers, and they get tipped from us. They don't run the risk of going to work and leaving in debt. I do resent the system where we are expected to not only forgo a paycheck, but get bitched at when they feel a rather hefty tip isn't generous enough.

are you KIDDING me? tips are taxable income. it is ILLEGAL not to pay taxes on tips.

and if min wage could pay your rent i'd love to know where youre living bc it sure as hell wouldnt pay mine. not to mention waitresses dont make min wage. they make WAITSTAFF min wage which is less than half of regular minimum wage.
