Thread: What's your honest opinion about pole dancing?

I think what's most important about it is just the ooh ahh now I know that I'm in a strip club. It's a good background, even if the girl is not doing tricks....just a naked chick and a pole.

Do they care and are basing their LD's off pole work? I'd go so far as to say HELL no. But I don't think a club should get rid of them altogether.....it just gives them that strip-club-feel they need....

The pole for me was always a prop and often at the end of the night was the only thing holding me up. I'd do little twirls and shimmies, maybe climb up it a little ways and slide down (hopefully sexily) but nothing that involved actual skill.
The fact that this was my full repertoire didn't stop the occasional guy from raving about my 'awesome skillz'. I guess I could have done it growing up on a trapeze but somehow managed to spend all my time turning green with envy watching the super strippers and their death defying peelings, I mean how do you hang upside down by one ankle and manage to take your g off without getting it caught in your stilletto's?
As amazing as this is I don't think this is where the guys are sold (although there are always a few strip tease aficionado's who will categorise and critique all your 'moves'), in the end, ->the whole image of the pole is a shiny phallic object with a nakie chick wrapped around it<- , most likely making eyes at you, now isn't that image appealing?

I vote that they are important, not so much in a whizz bang acrobatics kinda way, more like an essential component of a strip club, it's a symbol recognised most anywhere, the shinier the better ;-)

No. Most seem to prefer a sexy dancer who provides lots of eye contact and makes him feel like she's dancing for him.

No. Dancers are stage are part of the scene. It's adds to the atmosphere. Many guys watch the stage , check out all the dancers on the floor and "get in the mood" for their dances.

I don't look at it that way at all. If other girls like pole tricks and go all out and you don't/can't/won't, who cares? They do their thing, you do yours.

^yea I don't feel that it's a competitive female thing at all. When I look at a girl dancing her ASS off on the pole, even for no $$, I think you go girl, and she's getting a great workout so there IS a point. I don't think they care if I'm not pole dancing.....they might be laughing tho.

I love it. love doing it, I love watching it, and I know plenty of guys who do like it. Plenty don't, either, it's true, but I can't please everyone. I mean, some guys come into the club looking for extras or are trying to date strippers. I don't have to cater to them. Neither do I have to give up a essential part of my performance just because it won't appeal to everyone? Some guys don't like certain kinds of music either. You have to do what inspires you onstage (within reason, and within the style and spirit of the club).

That said, there's a difference between dancing and incorporating pole work into your performance, and staying attached to the pole the entire time, like it's a competition or an Olympic event. THAT isn't what most guys are looking for, even the ones who do enjoy pole work. When this has come up with the men on the site, as a poll or just a discussion, I believe most do like it IN MODERATION, as in dazzling them with a couple of choice moves, but then moving on to interact with them. Get your attention with that inversion & spin, using eye contact, but then make your way over to the rail. Sees like common sense to me.

it depends on so many things. its fun to watch (sometimes) and fun to do to take up time on stage. however, at my club, youre not going to make more based on doing pole tricks. there are some girls that do nothing BUT pole work and its kind of annoying. i think if youre going to do it, balance it out. some of the things dont look good *or* sexy. some customers though, typically female, will tip girls for pole work. at my old club that happened all the time, those are the only dancers they would tip. and i had a guy tell me if i didnt climb the pole, he wasnt buying a lap dance. okie dokie, dont.

I wish guys would appreciate pole dancing more. It's not necesary to be a good pole dancer on stage to make money at my club. It's not even necessary to be a good stage dancer! The girl patrons that come in on the weekends do go crazy for pole tricks!

I've never tried pole dancing. I've noticed the girls who do the best, most awesome pole tricks NEVER get paid their dues from customers. F*** a loud room of applause. I'd much rather receive money!

Plus, for the lack of tipping that I see for the pole-dancers, it just doesn't see worth it to me. There is to much risk getting hurt on poles IMO.

I don't think that I would even be in this industry if it weren't for pole dancing. I started off taking pole dancing classes, which got me in shape and gave me the confidence to strip.

Rocking out on the pole is the most fun part of my night.

I've seen stages with no poles where there girls just walk around the stage grabbing and groping their own breasts. And they make money anyway. Would things be better if there were no stages, we all just sat around and chatted like in a real lounge, and did lapdances and VIP in the back somewhere?
Is it all just to attract custys?

I love the pole, and it makes me a LOT of money when I work in the US (up here everyone is good on the pole).

The trick is not to bust out nonstop acrobatic pole moves, but to do a show as good as a non-pole girl, with a few sexy but uncommon tricks thrown in for punctuation...the guys walk up to the stage to tip, and become easy-ass targets

i love the pole, as i started at a club that was known for having some of the best pole dancers around.

now at a bigger club it doesn't seem to get noticed or appreciated but there will be a guy on occasion who will throw loads of money at me. most of the time i get nada. yet i still love to pole dance. i guess it's always been the wannabe cirque du soleil performer in me.

I just don't get the oppurtunity to learn tricks like I would like to. I can't even do the whole booty poppin' thing.

I think the great thing about the pole is that you can show off your body from every angle. Some tricks do that, some don't. But the spins are just like models turning around on the runway, letting you look at every part of the clothing, we just exhibit every part of our bodies. Some of the most beautiful and graceful poses can only be achieved when you are suspended in midair.

Plus I think the wow-factor is good for business and the general atmosphere. Even if it doesn't make the individual girl a lot of money, it gives the club a good reputation for being very entertaining.

i love doing it, its a good workout and i know how to incorporate it in time witht he music. i do a lot of graceful legsplit spins and matrix style slow spins where you hold yourself out from the pole.

i get complimented on it, and i think even if you do a little it can increase your dance sales, not just stage tips. look at the bigger picture.

bottom line- if you put on a good show no matter what your doing, it will be noticed and will most likely pay off later.

I've actually had one guy tell me that he came just for the pole tricks. I had to cock my head to the side and ask, "Really?" He insisted it was the truth. "Really, with all of the naked women, you're here for pole tricks?"

^ Haha. I think I'd have the same reaction.

My club has no poles and no floorwork, and at first I was worried, but now I love it and can't imagine going back. The constant bruises I used to have from slithering around the floor and banging various body parts into the pole are nonexistant.

OMG, AMEN!!!! I couldn't have said it any better, EXACTLY!!!!!!

I can't tell you how many of my feature school students think they are coming to learn pole tricks. It's so frustrating...ahhhhhhhhhh! I just got in a pickle with one last week because thats all she wanted to learn. The world needs to understand that they CAN be put together but stripping does not = pole dancing!!!!!!!

I am a pole girl because thats what I love to do. But anyone that has seen my shows knows that it is my specialty but not my whole show! If you don't know how to TEASE and dance, there is not strip tease!

I am so glad that someone else understands this!

Eye contact and interaction with the audience trump pole work. Pole work is just icing on the cake. I will do it if I am in the mood for it.
