    Default Grapefruit Diet

someone told me that if you eat a grapefruit every day, along with a normal, healthy diet, you'll lose a lot of weight. i thought it sounded a bit dodgy, but i'm wondering if there's any truth behind it. i generally eat pretty well anyway, so i'm wondering if eating a grapefruit with breakfast would be beneficial at all?

Well, the only way I can see this working is that it'd fill you up for relatively little calories. Therefore you'd naturally eat less and lose pounds over time. But as for some special property inherent with grapefruit? I doubt it.

You could probably substitute any lower cal fruit/veggie and have the same results.

Citrus aurantium is an ingredient put in some *fat-burners*. It might be good for something other than improving digestion and helping to ward of things like fungus and parasites.

But improving digestion helps to lose weight and holding onto things like fungus and parasites can making weightloss difficult.

Maybe there is some truth to it all!

yeah i only remember eating grapefruit once as a kid and i'm pretty sure i hated it. but i bought one at the supermarket so i might attempt to eat it soon...

i'm wondering though, since i have tonsillitis and my throat is red raw, will the citric acid burn?

It shouldn't 'burn' per say, it's not as strong as a lemon and if it's a pink grapefruit most likely no more than any other food cos they are sweeter and milder AND... Grapefruit provides alot of vitamin C which will help your throat heal and your immune system in general. I'm a little biased because i looove grapefruit. Yay for grapefruit!

    I LOVE GRAPEFRUIT!!!!!!!

I like to cut them in half and dig out all the fruit with a spoon into a bowl and then squeeze all the juice into a bowl and then cover it with splenda.

    Grapefruit soup!

    Heaven.

When I was on Weight Watchers, I always had a grapefruit in the morning. I lost a lot of weight, but I don't know how much the grapefruit helped although I had heard that there is something in them that helps a diet. I personally love them, and would always cut them in half and sprinkle sugar on it and then take a knive and cut the triangles inside and scoop it out with a spoon.

The acid in pomelo's is nasty. I ate one the size of a football in Manila once ( i was hungover ok) and I swear my face was being devoured by ants!

    p.s. there were no ants

I hate grapefruit. Wish I liked them, they are chock full of vitamin C and lower sugar than oranges. But that quinine taste, yick!

OMFG. If I ever wanted to go on a seriouusss diet-fest - all I'd have to do is eat a Kiwi. If I eat one slice of kiwi my whole face puffs up for 4-5 days and I can't even think about eating. Water can barely get through my swollen kiwi infested throat. Pookas allergic. But...but they just taste so good.

I sneak a teeny slice like once a year.

I went shopping today and bought some grapefruit. I haven't had grapefruit since about preschool so I'll have to see how it goes! I honestly don't remember what they taste like.

My mom actually carried around a little bottle of grapefruit essential oils and sniffed it every few hours as a weight loss plan. I'm not sure if it worked or not.

This is making me want a grapefruit.

Was it Young Living brand grapefruit essential oil? I did that same thing but I'd put drops of it in my water.

I don't think it did anything special but it added flavor to my water.
