    Default Scabies

I know there are people here who know about this kind of stuff. There's a new girl at work who has an odd rash all over her body. It's not concentrated over elbows and hands like some websites say, but it does look very much like the pictures I find when I google. Does that mean it definitely isn't scabies? This girl has very poor personal hygeine. When she started at the club she probably hadn't had a shower in a few months. Would that make her more likely to have scabies or is that a nasty stereotype?

The internet says you have to have prolonged skin contact with the person to get it and that the bugs live for up to 72 hours off the person. I'm not sitting in any chairs or laps after her, but how likely is it to get them from the stage?

^ It's all over her body, like from knees to elbow little pimpley things. I've never seen a heat rash like that?

omfg, if it's scabies RUN and do not come back until they delouse the place. (Yea, it's a lice thing.) You don't have to get it from poor hygeine. I got it twice in the hospital from towels. You have to boil everything. A friend had it last year, and apparently they've updated the medicine, it used to be "Kwell" which was a lotion, but I forget what she did with it.

You won't die, you won't necessarliy see them jumping from place to place....it's uncomfortable, itchy, and highly contagious. That would be fucking crazy if scabies broke out in a strip club.

I remember when I had scabies. I had a rash for SEVEN MONTHS and every day I asked my mum if I could go to the hospital and she'd say nothing was wrong with me. I'd tell her it burned and burned... I started taking really hot showers to 'burn' the scabies off.. and she'd still tell me I was over-reacting. Soon they were all over my back, big red and dark.. on my legs, everywhere.. even on my face. Still, my mum would do nothing. Once, when we were visiting my grandma, she sad, "Lysondra, what's wrong, what's all over you?" and I said, "I don't know, mum won't take me to the doctor." And my grandma MADE her take me. If I thought the scabies were bad.. oh my god.. the LOTION. It BURNS like a fucker. I cried myself to sleep for two weeks in a row until the little fuckers burned into my skin - I still have scars.

That was a rather long dramatic post to tell you - see someone sooner rather than later or that fucking lotion BURNS LIKE HELL.

I got scabies in the military... They just put me into a new dorm room and apparently the scabies were on the mattress. But I went to the doctor as soon as I noticed the rash... She prescribed me some lotion (didn't burn too badly as I recall it), and my squadron moved out my roommate. They took a LOT of precautions... I (since I was already infected) had to move out both mattresses in my room, both chairs (upholstered), throw away the sheets, etc. But the infection went away quickly and didn't spread, probably BECAUSE they were so obsessive about it.

But I agree... Talk to the manager about the rash. The manager needs to talk to her about it. It may just be psoriasis or eczema or a heat rash or whatever, but she does NOT need to be working with scabies.

We had a girl at my old club who had oozing sores on her butt that were infected with staph. She was spreading it around the club for awhile and all the other girls started taking serious precautions against it (not sitting in dressing room chairs, for example) and pressured the manager to talk to her about it.

    Better safe than sorry...

I get hives and skin rashes all the time. In the past few years I've become allergic to a lot of shit. Sometimes when I'm working, a guy will be using a cerrtain detergent, or a startch, or a cologn, and I'll end up with if not normal hives, weird looking bumps all over anywhere I touched them with my body. It sucks having sensitive skin!

Wtf are they doing letting a girl work who hasn't showered in " a couple of months," lawdhavemercy, it probably is scabies.

Last night several of us were getting ready and when one of the new girls walked out another dancer said, "Did you see that? She was putting medicine on her RINGWORM." Uh, no, I didn't see it, but she went and told the manager and he made her leave. What is up with these nasty girls and their highly contagious skin diseases?

i have constant (and sometimes very painful) psoriasis and i also get occasional eczema.

i have to take steroids for it and when it gets really bad i'll have to use make-up and whatnot to cover it. i've heard whispers in the dressing room and stuff before about me having ringworm or scabies.

i have to make it a point to tell girls i'm not contagious, and even then some of them still talk shit about it.

customers rarely (if ever) notice any of the patches. i think it's because it's a combination of the lights in the dressing room being so much brighter, and the fact that customers are looking at "other" things.

my patches are usually on my neck, elbows and hands. sometimes i will get them under my arms or around my knees, but not often.

i'm not saying the girl doesn't have scabies though. she very well could. esp if it's little bumps like that and they're all over. however, there -are- some rashes that look similar that are a symptom of a condition or are a drug reaction.

i'm just kind of putting a little PSA out there to everyone...

while it's good to be cautious about it (i am too) be careful of spreading rumors or assuming the worst. some people just have skin conditions.

I was thinking the same thing. Why is she allowed to work with this, you are not the only one seeing this rash Lena. I would kindly ask her if she is ok. Also maybe ask staff if they know anything of it. Could be a number of things, from bugs, to hives etc.

She would be scratching and those bites would open if it's scabies that part i do know..and yes we have homeless who end up in the ED for alcohol and have scabies....they need relief from that as well, it's is like a dog infested with flea bites.

A friend of mine with a high standard of personal hygene got Scabies from a towel at the gym.

He described the experience as living through hell for 4 months, which is how long it took him to clear it up.

Yes you can catch it off any surface she touches...

I would be terrified of contracting that. Basically if I got it, I know I would not be able to work. Plus it can scar you, which could be an even bigger problem, esp if you got a scab on your face etc.

I had it as a child. Unpleasant...always itchy. I'd have to see pics of her to tell you though.

As long as you don't share clothes or a furniture with her, I think you should be ok.

I ended up with scabies after staying over at a friends place for a few nights. It ITCHED like hell, and it hurt when you scratched. I was out of work for almost 4 months b/c of the scabs and sores. The lotion killed the little bugs but I had to use it 3 times, all over my body, including face and neck. Washed, boiled and disinfected everything, had carpet cleaners come in and everything.
What she has though almost sounds like excema or psoriasis. Scabies comes in lines b/c the bugs burrow through your skin, and it's concentrated mainly in the areas where your skin wrinkles or connects with the bands of your clothing, like knees, ankles, hip joints, armpits and elbows.

It's not like exceme or psoriasis or a red/inflamed kind of rash. It's like little pimples or spider bites all over her body. It's very visible in the dressing room, but not so much on the floor.

She scratches every once in a while, but not constantly like it's really bothering her.

The other dancers do see it and several went to the bartender/bouncers and tried to get them to do something, but they wouldn't. The manager is only there during the day when the club is closed.

I am biased. I really intensely dislike this girl because of something that she did outside of work. I am not going to talk to her about it because she is very conflict oriented and she shoots people. I want to make sure that I'm not over reacting or meddling or something before/if I talk to the manager about it.

Who hires someone that doesn't shower for months?? Especially in a very looks-based job like stripping. WTF.

If it's scabies, it itches like hell. It looks like an allergic reaction, in my opinion. The scabies themselves (or from what the doctor told me back then - I was 8 or so then) are not actually in the bumps, those are the 'villages' they leave behind of their faecal matter and skins.. like little garbage dumps before they move to the next free valley. So, really, get it checked and make sure you put lotion EVERYWHERE, not just on the bumps - that's if you see bumps. ANd avoidance is really hard of this stuff.

OMG, you poor thing! My friends mum did a simular thing to my friend and her bother. She kept saying "Its just a rash, its your dads fault, his getting under our skin by being such an arsehole and causing us to break out in rashes." my friend was like "But mum scabies is going around at school!" about 5 months later they were finally taken to the Dr and he exclaimed "Thats the worst case of scabies Ive EVER seen!"
The good news is that there are lotions now which dont burn, but still Lena RUN like the wind!!! Some scabies mites have become resistant to treatment. curezone.com has a scabies forum with some awful bloody stories.
Neem products are a good natural deterant apparently.

Im itching now just from thinking about it!

I hope that you have started a regular program of wiping the dance pole and stage down with alcohol after this girl performs ... but health issues aside for the moment ...

If any dancer has scabies / ringworm / any other disease that can be spread by 'casual contact', this is just more ammunition for the bible thumping anti-strip club ordinance supporters - because it provides concrete evidence that strip clubs can present a 'secondary effects' public health problem.

If the clubowner is reluctant to deal with this dancer, you might bring up the issue that a documented outbreak of scabies that affects other dancers and club customers could very well wind up prompting local officials to enact an anti-strip club ordinance, which will take a whole lot of money out of the clubowner's and dancers' pockets !!!
