    Default Lowering blood pressure?

I just got back for the nurse and she said my blood pressure was a little high and that i have to have it checked again this friday as it might just be a one off( she had trouble trying to hear it at first! lol)
I have never had problem with my blood pressure before, i dont smoke and i eat fairly well. Could it be a fluke or is there anything i can do to bring it down?
I was rushin to get to the doctors as i was stuck in traffic so maybe thats a factor?
I dunno im hopeless when it comes to medical stuff it scares me lol

Eat low sodium and take garlic capsules.

Exercise lowers Bloob Pressure. Garlic has worked wonders in studies. Take Garlicin, it's slow released. No upset.

Actually the pharmacy has a host of OTC that can help lower BP.

I would ask at the Pharmacy. I take a garlic tablet twice a day. Don't have high BP! Don't think i ever did....but hey it all helps.

    Good luck.

    Heee, "bloob." Funny typo.

I'm gonna look into the OTC stuff--The Hubby has been told twice now that he has high BP. He's concerned that his BP goes up when they're testing him because he's nervous it'll be high....kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy, ya know? But he definitely has room to improve his BMI and diet.

Even i do that. I have a BP kit at home. And it's lowwww. I hit the docs. office and it's high...lol. It's called White Coat Syndrome. Many have that. We expect bad news that's why.

Try to relax and deep breath before and during the taking of your BP.

Yes rushing around right before a BP check will not give the normal numbers time to show up.

Also what i take has no garlic smell or breath. There are many OTC kinds, read one that says "no Garlic Odour"!

Good luck. I read in many studies it does help to an extent.

Spend time with people who make you laugh, watch funny movies, etc. Laughter is on the best ways to lower blood pressue beacause it's fun and free! Even a fake laugh will lower blood pressure. Garlic and Omega 3 help a lot.

You're so young, I imagine the biggest problem is the amount of salt in your diet. Do you eat a lot of salty foods?

Yoga and Tai Chi help maintain a healthy lifestyle, including low blood pressure.

    Good luck

Thank you Sarah. She's 100% correct.Yoga and Tai chi are EXCELLENT for lowering BP. So is meditation.

Most garlic supplements are "de-natured" = they've had the smell & taste removed.

Could be any number of things: Caffeine, some otc cold meds, and, Yes, "White Coat Fever". I know later is definitely true- a medical "deal" that I had-several yrs ago went to unfamiliar doc that I wasn't getting good vibes from; BP was 5-12pts higher than normal- went to regular doc a few days later, BP normal.
If you're really concerned, I'd buy 1 of those BP monitors at drugstore, and take readings at various times, BP can vary.

I would venture to guess it's because you were rushing around, or you very possibly have white coat syndrome. I'm a nursing student and I had to check a lady who was rushing around right before she got called back and it was extremely high. I went out of the room for a few minutes to let her gather herself and went back in to re-check and she was fine.

In order to be diagnosed as having high BP, you have to have higher than 140/90 three times. I would recommend buying a home BP monitor and doing it when you're calm. That way you can see if it's your diet/exercise or just running around. Do you get nervous around doctors or nurses at all?
