You will find that the definition of the term can vary widely, as well--depending on who is expounding on the subject at the time.

I've been quietly wondering the same thing.

Is it so hard to just type out the damn word? More often than not we have a keyboard on these boards with which to type. Why use all the abbreviations? Are we just that lazy?

it is for "pathetic loser". It was initially in reference to a certain kind of strip club customer who is more benignly referred to as a "RIL" (regular in love). However, it has been expanded a bit, and can refer to all customers in either a pejorative or non-pejorative, ironic kind of way (some customers here decided that they were going to take it back).

LMAO!
I wondered what a PL was for the first two years I was on SW. I think somebody finally told me in chat one night what it meant.
\

Hahaha! That was honestly one of my favorite names to call scumbag men and custies long before I even joined SW! When I found out what it meant on here, I fell in more love with this site!![]()
PL = Pathetic Loser.
LOL I was just talking about what it meant to be a "pathetic loser" to my dancer friend last night. Basically a stereotypical "pathetic loser" is an older male customer who frequents the strip clubs and is pretty much a regular. He can often be talked into spending a decent amount on lapdances or champagne room. He is generally an older guy that hasn't gotten any in a while(death of his spouse, too geeky to be able to meet girls very well, wife doesn't want to have sex much anymore, etc), so he seeks out strippers at the strip club for companionship and intimiate lapdances. Feeling that a lapdance is "intimate" might sound silly to you or I, but for some of these guys, it's the best thing they've had in a while.
By the way, I think the term PL is intended to be more affectionate than insulting. But our PL's do not know that we refer to them as that!
Haha, when I first joined SW I drove myself insane trying to figure out what "IMO" meant lmao!

I'm pretty sure someone told me once it meant pervy lurker... Or maybe I'm just crazy.![]()

I'm more referring to almost every internet abbreviation. I just don't see the need to do it. On some phone texting I can see, but with a keyboard? Come on.

Nah it's funny, especially when I'm talking to someone and I say the abbreviation. "Double-you. Tee. Eff." Reminds me of that silly phone commercial. I don't let it get me down.
But I don't especially care for the PL moniker, myself. Speaking for myself only, if I get to the point where I unequivocally look down on the source of my income, I think I'll stop dancing.
^PL is a term of affection, in a weird sense. It's not typically meant as a put-down.

Something that needs to be mentioned is that a lot of the terminology, and their respective acronyms used on SC forums aren't all that well known inside of actual strip clubs. I met a dancer some years back and the conversation went like this...
Dancer: I used to dance in Tampa.
Me: Really. How's the mileage down there?
Dancer: Oh, its a pretty long drive from here.
She had no clue what I meant by "mileage".
The thing is, the boys on the boards here probably use it more in reference to themselves or their ilk than the girls do, particularly on blue. In fact, I see it more prevalently on other customer oriented SC or "hobbyist" websites than I do here or on dancer/SC industry forums.
I think we abbreviate "pathetic loser" for the same reason people on MB's abbreviate any other commonly used term. Its so common to the regular posters there that its assumed that the acronym will be understood.
Problem is of course, not all posters are regulars, hence this thread.
