Mum kicked her 15 year old out for being pregnant when she had her at 13? o.O;
All the boys have almost the same name?
There's actually a place for teen mothers to live because the pregnancy rates are so high?
Statisticians don't closely follow the age of pregnancies?
She's 15 with tattoos?
A kid who's wanted job changed six times in one article is caring for a baby?
The writer is so piss poor you don't even know when time has passed until it already has?

This didnt make me angry. A bit sad. But it could have turned out SO much worse.
She has a support system...between the shelter people and her mother(who seems to have come to terms). She is still in school, looking to have a future and the baby seems loved and well taken care of.
Considering the tragic outcome this could have been...she could be neglecting or abusing the baby, she could have dumped it in the trash, etc...etc....this isnt SO bad. Yeah I dont agree with a lot of this...but like I said...aint as bad as it could be
That got me. Wow. 2 years older than me. I'm just scratching the surface of getting used to motherhood. Grandmother? OMG, i cannot imagine.Leticia is a grandmother at 29. She was 13 — a seventh-grader — and living in Chicago when she gave birth to her oldest child.
My good friend's mother became a grandmother at 30.
wow.

This makes me really sad. It's a viscious cycle.
Also, don't think that most of these pregnancies are accidental. I did a report on teen pregnancy. In such subcultures, it's the norm. Some do it out of infatuation with a cute little baby, some do it out of peer pressure, some want unconditional love.
Also, keep in mind that when it comes to teen pregnancy, there is very little social mobility. Poor women who have babies tend to stay poor. Middle class women tend to stay middle class. Most of my friends who became teen moms are actually doing decently. It took them a bit longer to get through school, but they generally tended to maintain themselves.

Man, that girl's got a hard life ahead of her. Thankfully, they'll be a strip club somewhere for her to work

Agreed with Rose and Cam. Hell, I've read much more upsetting stories from the girls here over the past couple of days. The one in the shittily-written article is young and confused but seems to have enough resources to rise above this.
Maybe Celia will stay in school and grow up to construct poorly written articles about teen pregnancy. That was ugly, shame on me. I'm going to get a pimple for that comment.

How Cameron? I'll give you that she could have killed the newborn, I guess...but really, outside of murder, how can it get worse than a teenage mother (who was the child of a teenage mother) giving birth to a child while out of wedlock, living in public housing, barely any education in sight, the sperm tosser is apparently barely in the picture, and the grandmother/mother rewarding her 15 year old daughter for not failing out of school by letting her get inked up? And a major concern for this girl is not that she has a baby, but that she wants to be able to play basketball.
There is a worse scenario than this? I don't know what it could be, outside of a criminal situation.
I am glad that teenage preg rates are falling, but it angers the hell out of me to know that tax money is supporting these utter drains on society.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]Do unto others as you would have them do to you...it's less work to be nice than it is to be evil!
"Miss ChiChi, if you was my girl you would never cry from anything...except maybe happiness."
Like I said..at least the girl is still in school and the baby seems to be taken care of and healthy and loved. The focus on basketball was the fault of the writer IMO...the girl herself says she plans on going into a stable career.
SO..the baby could be abused or neglected, the girl could have dropped out of school severley limiting her chances for the future....it could be a lot worse
PS-Cameron, not trying to start a fight...

Both should anger you.
Sure, some people use publiuc assistance and move on, but what about those who just languish in the system, like this "family?" There are TONS of such people. They even said they moved to the QC because they heard that the public housing is better. How about getting a freaking job and getting OUT of public housing?
Deadbeats.
And while we're at it, I'd have liked to see the reporter who wrote this story dig up the asshole who knocked this dimwit up and see what he thinks about the whole thing. I have a feeling he's probably about as worthless as these two "mothers."
And go even further...where's the "grandfather?"
God, I need to step away....

At least the teen mom gave birth to a healthy baby, is healthy herself, and has some goals to go into a career with computers or health care. She is still in school and didnt drop out. And who cares if she has tattoos? So many ppl do that I dont think it should give any indication into what type of person she is.
And the lack of the fathers in this story should also not reflect onto the mothers. What the guys do is their business and shouldnt give any indication into what type of parent she is going to be. She may be a great mother given the chance. It seems she is growing up in an area where teen pregnancy is the norm so she doesn't really see anything adverse about it.

It seems her mother tried at least. She told her that she would get her on birth control when she decided to have sex so she didnt end up like the mom did...kid told her too late.
And yes, I wish they would get a job. BUT...how can mom get a job AND kid mom stay in school? There are several small children at home and now a newborn. Unless there is someone to watch the kids...where is she supposed to work with no diploma where she will make more?
I hate that people get into these circumstances...mostly by having several children they cant afford. But once they are there..its really hard to get out.
All they hope now is that the daughter finishes school and can get a good job....she may be the one to pull the family up.
And no, I dont agree with letting a 15 yr old get tatoos...BUT..they were rewards for GOOD GRADES. Thats something at least....
^Exactly. It's not my #1 choice for a reward but based on Mr Hyde's other thread right now, it sounds like he's confusing his personal bias with an additional moral judgment on this girl. Otherwise why bring it up?
She's back with her mom, back in school (where she apparently made good grades and had extracurricular activities), and both she and her mom brought up good plans for her future. Why assume the worst?
These people may be trying to do the best they can given their circumstances, but getting pregnant is still her fault. I know many people who have sex a LOT and have never gotten pregnant because we actually think with our brains and wrap it the fuck up. Condoms are everywhere, it's not hard to get one. Getting caught up in the moment and not giving thought to the consequences is simply irresponsible. I'm very conservative towards issues like this, and I'm very upset because my tax dollars are enabling them to stay on the government titty for a long time.
True and I agree with that, but no BC is 100%. I don't remember if the article even mentioned if they used a condom (I know it specified that she wasn't on the pill yet). They do break and even if they don't, pregnancy happens a LOT. Just something else to bear in mind.

This is true, but why couldn't she wait until she was at least on BC, if her mom had her at 13 and offered to pay for it? I can't blame her mom for being furious with her. Kids are dumb, I know and rebellious, butThis is all sorts of not good.
And I wish it wasn't written like it's Maury or something.
