    Default Keeping Motivated

Sometimes I am very motivated and will hustle the whole time. Other times I will just play pool or have a drink at the bar and see if guys approach me because I would rather be playing pool than hustling guys for dances.

How do you keep motivated at work?

I'm thinking of making goals/games for myself.

Usually I already know how much I want to make for the day so I just hustle until I make that amount. If I go over the amount, then I make a game out of it and I try to see how much extra money I can make.

Play mental games, say you want to get to a certain amount. then then double it, then tripple it... if you do that then like Elusive 21 suggest, give yourself a treat.

If it's dead or slow, I force myself to ask every man in the bar for a dance. Even if I think I know the answer is ex-nay...Then either I get surprised by a yes, or I go play Tetris on my phone until someone else shows up.

When I'm at work, it's all about the money. But if I'm fed up, and I've been there long enough, I'll probably just go home and try again the next day.

^^^ That is exactly what I do. I am a machine until I have made my goal. And my goal is high, but reasonable. Then I just keep going to see how much better I can do.

When it's slow, and no one seems to be buying or tipping, I tell myself that I have to approach 20 guys. I can't go into the dressing room until I have approached 20. That always always keeps me making at least some money and keeps me working when there are other girls bitching in the dressing room. Whether there's a lot of money out there, or just some, SOMEONE is going to be making it, and it better be ME.

Pretty much what everyone else has said. When you do this, the law of numbers comes into play. I make it a point to ask every customer, and I mean putting a little effort into it, not buzzing from chair to chair with "wanna dance?" If everyone says no, then so be it, but at least I have the satifaction that I tried. I hate people who sit on their asses at the poker machine or hang out and drink all night, don't ask a single customer for a dance but complain about making no money.
I am getting kinda off the subject here, sorry.....
Anyways, having motivation is challenging at times, especially lately. You just have to keep experimenting and find something that works for you. If I have had nothing but "no's" for an extended period of time, I will take a little break and either call my husband (he usually says something funny and makes me laugh), have a drink, have a snack, retouch my makeup, brush my teeth (this gives me a huge lift...don't ask me why I'm weird), change outfits, etc...Then go back out and hit the floor again, usually by then there are some new folks in the club.
    Hope this helps!

set 2-3 goals. i used to work on the nightly goal system and then i went to the weekly goal system.

nightly (examples): goal 1, $300 and when you hit it, you work for goal 2, $500. when you hit that, you push it to goal 3, $750 etc. something like that. if you hit $xxx (a rare number for you) treat yourself to a massage or something luxurious. but nothing more than $100.

weekly: goal is $1500/$2000/$2500 etc. If i dont make that i work an extra day, therefore i want to work as hard as i can while im at work so i can take my days off.

and i found that couting my money at work was a baaaad idea bec you begin to think, meh, i've made enough. so just have a general sense of what you've made. aim really high. Like, always aim for the third goal if you're doing nightly.

and limit your break time/dressing room time to like 5 minutes per shift.

    Love it!

One little trick I have that may help is if I've sat with a guy and asked for a dance and he's said no (this happens to me every few months or so...JK ) then I'll be really polite and playful and say, "okay, well if you were me, who do you think out of these guys would by a dance?" then we check out the prospects and sort of have a good time over speculating, then he will pick someone to send me to, and I'll go to him next. It's fun and I usually say, "okay, if he doesn't bite, I'm coming back and you're in trouble.." the next guy usually will get a dance and if he doesn't I can go back pouty to the first guy and he'll either buy one cause then, or we'll do it again.

I don't know, it's fun and it definitely keeps me on the floor. Because my natural instinct after being rejected would have been to waste time, go to the bathroom or DR or something.

If you do like to count your money as you go, (and I do), then you can go in bundles of $50 or $100. Every time I make $100, it goes in my locker and I start all over filling up the garter because I can't wait to make another trip. It gives me mile-markers throughout the night because I start hustling even harder if I haven't made a $100 cash stash in the locker for a while! If your club is slower, go for $50 bundles.

I do best on missions, so to speak. Sometimes when it's completely dead, as in one or two customers, one of our managers likes to kind of prod us to suck a dance or so out of 'em, and I always succeed at that lol. Whenever there's a motivation that doesn't come directly from me and isn't really about money I do best lol. Competing with a girl I don't like keeps me very motivated also.

I don't really set goals anymore.

I have a general sort of always goal. And I have a minimum for me to walk happy goal.

but recently I'm setting goals like "ask 10 people before I go on stage next", or "do 4 more dances before the next feature"

it keeps me constasntly focused, throughout the night. I don't get very side tracked this way. Also, If i wanna go to the DR to fix my makeup or have a snack, I say ok self, you can go to the DR after you make 50 more dollars.

then i take a short break, have some water and a snack, and repete!

I do that too Holiday! It is a great game when I have had no luck around the club. Almost every time the guy the custy picks buys a dance or two!

I make a goal and decide how many no's I have to get to reach said goal. For ex. if I want $600 then that's 30 dances, or 2 dances a piece from 15 guys. So if one in four of them says yes then I need to ask 60 guys and get 45 no's to make my goal. I almost never get as many no's as I'm aiming for before I make my goal but I always use my worst case scenario. It means I can go all night thinking if I just ask 60 (or whatever the number is for that club) guys I'll have $600. Only 28 more no's to go...

Up the sexuality a tad, and try to out the top earner on those nights! Worked everytime for motivation. Not sure about the money, but it was fun to compete against a dancer who had no idea!

I also really like the idea of having a goal # of no's. Then instead of feeling down and unmotivated, I'll check one off the list and keep going.

I kindda like the idea of stashing 100 bucks, and "starting new". I dont trust my money to be sitting unsupervised in my locker, but on a garter on my other leg (under warmers, so I'm not getting distracted by it) is a cool idea. I dont count dances, I can usually just tell by the bulk on my garter, but last night I got a bazillion ones, and totally threw me off. So I like your idea better PaintGoddess, I'm gonna try that out.
