Default I need a REAL detangler!

My most money-making hairdo at work for the last few months has been big giant curls all over my head, hairsprayed until they're pretty hard and will stay curled. Like Victoria Secret curls, but more dramatic.

So my problem has been that it's sooo hard to wash/brush my hair at the end of the night. I just use shampoo and conditioner, massage them both in really well, and then when I get out I use my Schwarzkopf Moisture Kick.. But it still takes FOREVER to brush my hair and I hate that I have to rip it up so much. A long time ago I used to use the Aussie detangler, Knot forgotten, but I can't find it at any store anymore!

Does anyone have any good recommendations for a hardcore detangler that will get the hairspray out and make the brushing easier?

I have another suggestion, try a hold spray that's lighter. I use Alterna enzymetherapy hemp hold spray. It holds my hair all night but is gentle enough to wash right out without tangling! www.4alterna.com

    Gosh i don't know.

What about coming home jumping in a warm shower soaking the hair with a ton of water only, then just rub a very light weight conditioner through all of the strands with your fingers gently. Then shampoo, and condition again, and dry with fingers only gently.

    hope it helps.

I am currently loving 2be free styletini tipsy...smells like faint tearoses and untangles my hair nicely. Makes it feel all silky too. And its fairly cheap...about $5.

If you're using a curling iron or heat rollers, may I suggest Redken Hot Sets setting spray before you curl, rather than gobs of hairspray afterwards? The stuff is the bomb, and my fine, thin, can't-hold-a-curl-for-shit hair holds curls all night long with the Hot Sets. Spray it on a dry section, curl, repeat on next section.

Garnier fructic 3 minute conditioner...comes in a pot, is cheap at Walmart, and you don't really have to work at detangling your hair after. I am super careful with my hair since it is relaxed, and I use it all the time.

Ooo, sounds like cool stuff. Will I still need hairspray afterwards?

mmmmmm...you could do a light spritz afterward for some real helmet hold but you probably won't need it. Some people don't like the hot sets because your hair will feel a tad crunchy (ie not silky) afterward but it will definitely hold the curl.

Another tip when using the hot sets: spray a section, roll or curl, and while your hair is curled on the iron or curler spritz again once or twice with the hot sets. Let set a few seconds before removing from the barrel (obviously you'd let it sit for longer on the curler.) I use this stuff on my daughter too sometimes and we get full on Shirley Temple curls from using it.

If you try it make sure you get the Hot Sets, not the Potato Starch. The Potato Starch is a less firm hold than the Hot Sets.

haha like I said in another thread, I've been using it for about the past 5 years. I even have the 16.9 oz refill bottle that my bff picked up for me at the professional beauty supply store.

I keep looking at that spray bottle when i buy shampoo. I used it years ago. I think i am going to have to buy a bottle and see if i liked the results.

Not sure why i stopped. But need something, my hair is messed up after all these year with one bad cut! Maybe it will make it look and feel softer too.

You can always just take whatever conditioner you have - put into a spray bottle with some water. Viola! Insta leave in/detangler....

Well, where you get this, Cami?^
Anyways, I like the Pantene in the spray bottle.
Haven't used Johnson's in a while, but prev. found it worked well.
I also combine the spray ones, (I spray in first) then use a cream leave in. I like Charles Worthington Results in gold tube.

My hair style is also BIG. I get my hair done before work- and she goes crazy. I don't brush. I shampoo, condition, let it dry a little, then use a big comb.
