Default I think I'm in love...

    ..... With Gok Wan.
I'm not sure if you get this in the US, or anywhere else, but in the UK there's this show called "How to look good naked". Basically this (gorgeous) stylist takes a typically middle aged housewife or tired mother and gives her a crash course in style and self esteem and in the end she always walks a catwalk wearing next to nothing and a huge grin.
This guy is incredible at making these women feel really good about themselves, tummies, bingo wings, everything. And the change in the women is great.
I find it a little bit sad that this is the highlight of my working week (for now!!!) but I just needed to sing his praises.

Yes, it is on Foxtel and similar over here in Australia. Since it is, I only am able to "catch" it when I have access to such as I do not have it at home (nor do I want it as I don't believe in paying for television except for the electricity to run it and the tv to view it LOL).

It's only because I really don't watch tv all that much and I've been in heaps of situations with access to Foxtel (or similar) and still had the problem of "nothing to watch". So why should I pay for the privelage of being able to say "bleh. still nothing to watch"

Anyway, I must agree. It is an awesome show.

I remember an episode where she had a couple go behind the white curtain/screen in their under wear. All she could see was their silhouettes. She gave each a hand-held camera "pen" as such.

She then asked the husband to point the pen at all the body parts that he loved about his wife. The she asked the same of the wife (point the pen at the body parts that she loved of her husband). They both became very emotional in turn due to the revelations.

It was awesome. Stuck with me. Showed me that no matter how caught up in life one becomes and how 'used to' the other person you become.. never EVER forget to tell that person what you love about them. Don't expect them "to know". Be communicative.

Oops.. I think I have the wrong show! Sorry!

I remember this show now that I've seen the website The bit I remember is the part where he asked people to guess the woman's age before... and then after.. as well as for one woman he displayed her naked photos (didn't show any naughty bits and was done in a classy manner) on the side of a building in a busy part of town.

You couldn't miss it. Helped the woman realise that she is beautiful and alot of people commented on it. She wasn't overly made up in the photo so it was interesting to see peoples' reactions.

Plus it was also real interesting to see how people guessed a woman's age before and after her transformation. Some lost something like 10 years between the guessed ages!!

I'm all for shows like this... goes to show that anyone can look good naked.

That's great. It would never fly in the USA though.

Yes, the second one. Although it bothers me that I like it at all because it's most definately not something I'd usually watch but it's they guy, Gok, he's fucking gorgeous, just makes these women feel so comfortable, makes them laugh etc. Although if someone put a photo like that of me on a billboard i'd be at their throat in seconds!

Gok Wan actually manages to help women without scoring cheap points off them for entertainment value - which is rare in TV these days,

Far too often it's all about the presenter showing how sophisticated they are while belittling the person they are trying to help.

Gok Wan comes across as being genuinely interested in them as a person.

He is very clever. It is essentially just self esteem 101 with a few extras. But in his defence, he really does help those ladies.
