I LOVE black hair on pale girls, esp with green or blue eyes.
In fact, that is pretty much the only type of girl I am attracted to. It is freakin hot.

I love black hair and light eyes too! What about girls with hazel eyes? *wink*

The black hair/pale skin looks seems to be a hit or miss with people because it is quite extreme, but that's what I like most about it.

Hazil eyes, too. I have hazil eyes, pale skin and black hair also! Yeah it does seem like people either hate it or love it.

I am excited for some pics!

OMFG! You're sooooooooo fucking pretty, especially with your glasses on! *drools* I love how dramatic your hair looks next to your skin.

I'm about as fair as you in that pic, but with some freckles on my nose and cheeks.

As a pale girl with black hair, I am cheering for ya! But the one problem with white girls going with black hair... if your pale skin is too pink, it WILL look off.

    Agreed!!!

Unless you are going lighter or have some serious gray to cover, a permanent haircolor and the damage it causes is comepletely unnessacary! Yes a demi will fade, but so do permanents... the main differences are demi's do not damage at all, if you plan on ever going lighter in the future it will lift a little easier, and a demi will fade more gracefully than a permanent, which tend to get really dull, brassy, or too ashy.

Chances are you'll get the dramtic effect you want withour having to go as dark as black. If you are pale, dark browns will be stiking, not severe.... Think from Bionic woman.

Lastly, I beg you to go to a professional colorist! Depending how light your red is, your hair may be needed to be filled with it's missing pigments (several applications of demipermanent color) before you can get a rich, beleivable deep brown or black. This is especially true if you have a lot of highlights... Failure to do so can result in shallow, unnatural looking color or even tints of green.

It really depends on your coloring, and what shade of black you use.

I have very pale, cool-toned skin. I'm a sworn do-it-yourself girl, and I used a permanent dye from the drugstore.

It was awful. The tone of the black brought out the blue in my skin, giving me a distinctly blue overall look...I looked like a drowned corpse.

And it's nearly impossible to get out. I tried everything, and it wouldn't budge. It took several proccesses of bleach and hair stripper to get it to even a medium brown.

I definitely recommend experimenting with shades of brown. I currently have dark, ashy hair. It has the dramatic darkness of black, but it isn't so bleak, and complements my skin, rather than making me look like the girl from the Ring.

My friend dyed her hair a very dark red, called black cherry, and it was like the deepest burgundy before black, it looked amazing.

Try semi-perm, or a wig, before dedicating to one color.

I think it can look really cool on some people. But there must be something to this skin colour thing. I've had every hair colour except black, and I pretty well look bad or weird with anything but blonde. I don't know why. I had to stick with nature. It could be because my pale skin is pinky?

But good luck! I messed up my hair with dying last year, and it's just about back to normal health/ colour now. When it comes to hair experimentation, I just tell myself 'it's only hair...it's only hair'.

I have black hair with pale skin. I have been told it suits me beautifully. My hair is dyed a warm black. It does add warmth to your skin. Blue-black would do the opposite.

I totally agree. I am in the process of lightening my black hair to a more natural looking color. I have customers call me "goth" on a regular basis and it has become very, very irritating, and bad for business at times.
I too have very pale skin. I think it's the combination of the pale skin and the black hair that leads most people to believe one is "goth" or any other genre related to it. There are other girls at my club who have black hair, but have dark tanned skin and don't have the problems I do.
Anyway, I totally agree with Bella, I couldn't have said it better. Go for the brown. Take it from someone who has experienced it first-hand.

Yep. I have the same problem. I can't even wear a decent brunette properly. I did look good with a dark auburn, but it was really high maintenance and it never looked as good as my natural blonde. I get so sick of blonde but my skin dictates I'm just stuck with it! If you have pink skin and freckles, you usually can't wear dark hair color. I think it's the freckles that kill it.

I'm telling you, consider the Redken Shades EQ. It was recommended to me on this board and I have found it to be absolutely wonderful. Not only is it fuck-up-proof, you can mix your own shades. It uses a 5 volume developer which is more than adequate for going darker. You do not need a 20 volume to dye your hair black. Furthermore, like mia said, the permanent will eventually fade but you will still have an obvious line of demarcation as your hair grows out. There's really no reason to use such a high volume to go darker, you hair will likely eventually dull the more you use it. The shades EQ will keep your hair shiny, fade gradually with no line of demarcation, AND you can easily mix your own shades.

Yes, it's a professional product but like I said you can find it on ebay. The guy I last got it from is a licensed colorist who happens to live next door to a beauty supply that sells Redken. I currently have level 05RV (sangria), level 03RV (merlot), level 05NB (Walnut), and level 03NB (Espresso I think) under my bathroom cabinet just waiting to be mixed and applied.

Google Redken Shades EQ, I've yet to read anything bad about the stuff.

That sold me right there!!!!! Can I get this stuff at any beauty supply store?

I'll probably pass on the color I just bought to my olive skin cousin who looks beautiful in black. Damn!

you can only get it in a beauty supply that sells to licensed professionals (You will not find it at Sally's). If you have a friend with a professional license, see if they will get it for you. Otherwise buy it on ebay and just wait an additional week for it to come in. Did you view the color chart I posted earlier in the thread? You'll need to check it out to decide which colors you want. You'll need the color and a bottle of developer.

I bought mine from seller glennrobert1970 or something like that. I've seen in his auctions before that he would offer to sell smaller quantities of Clear Shine and Processing Solution (since they only come in 33 oz bottles) You should shoot him a message (if you go the ebay route) and ask if he would be willing that way you don't need to make a $40-50+ initial investment.

btw, I spent about $100 on a liter of Processing Solution, Clear Shine, and various 4 oz bottles (you only need half the bottle for one color job). I figure this stuff costs a good $50 a pop in the salon and I have enough for like 12 color jobs.

even if you don't go the shades eq route, just go back to the store and get a semi or demi permanent color. You really do not want a permanent colored black.

In addition, I would seriously consider doing the level 3 first, and if that really isn't dark enough for you, THEN do the black. With the semi/demi products, it shouldn't be a problem doing 2 back to back color jobs.
