Fuck that! I'm worth the full price and more, thank you very much.

For those who asked, my cards say:
    "My stage name"
    "DANCER"
"my myspace address" <----I post my schedule here.
    "club #1 webpage"
    "club #2 webpage"

ABSOLUTELY YES this has increased my sales. I have definitely had repeat customers who come in and say that I gave them my card and they checked my myspace page to see when I was working.

It would be silly for clubs to NOT like you handing out cards, it brings in business!
Also, I did put "DANCER" on the card so it's clear that's my job. I'm sure that some people just throw them away, but they are from vistaprint---so cheap.

no offense, but most of us aren't interested in attracting customers looking for price cuts on dances, or customers on a strict budget.

You can hand out the cards, just not within the club unless you have first gotten the card approved by the club as this (here in Aust. anyway) could be seen as solicitation. Thus the reason you should get it approved by the club.

Outside of the club, just be aware of "touting" laws, that's all.

In Australia, VistaPrint.com.au is the way to go to save some money if you want to do a small initial run of say 100 or so before committing to a larger amount of cards. They offer 100 free basic business cards for the price of postage or something.

Natalie this is a great idea...I too got the cards when I started at ggc. I never give them out cause most places I go are school related and I don't want to spread that around. One thing that might be worthwhile is to get a couple of use together an hour or so before work and hit up the gas stations and some of the industrial businesses around 40....since we do get so much business from this area and it's not likely to be related to any of our personal lives....just an idea

After reading your responses, I agree, it could cheapen what you do, and attract a stingier customer rather than someone with deep pockets who enjoys spending. I was thinking too much like a businessman and not enough like a dancer.

Would it be possible for some of you to scan your cards and show them here? Maybe some of you would need to X out a name or place, or maybe you'd like the free publicity. I'd like to see how your cards vary from what I see in other jobs.

My own personal update: I haven't handed out cards out on the street yet, but I give one to customers that ask my schedule or seem interested in me. They seem impressed like I'm business like or something lol. And it already got one of the guys to come on to the website and email me and start chatting. Now I already know that he's coming in to see me this afternoon. I think this was a great thing.

Hmm I think I might start doing this and put a myspace page up because I feel weird giving them my number (I only have 60 min a month anyways) and giving an address is usually too hard to remember after drinking and stuff....hmm...

I would research the law in your area before doing this, because I know that in Chicago this would be considered solliciting for prostitution
