    Default I need dress help!

My club recently decided to make every Thursday night "gown night". I have never worn a gown to work before b/c i never thought they would fit me right. I have a butt and hips and all the pretty gowns are o/s or S M L , where the biggest are for 40" hips. Mine are b/t 41"-42" ( I am working on getting them smaller but until then...)My chest is 36D and my waist is 26-27ish with a flat stomach that is burried under extra material of the sizes that fit my hips. The boutiques near my work don't carry a variety of styles or sizes so I will have to order online. I love the Nom de Plume (sp?) styles, but seems like I am too big for them (based on their size charts.) I fit everything meas wise for a M/L except the freakin hips

    My questions:

Does anyone know of a brand or site that sells gowns that would flatter and fit my body type?

Alot of the size M/L and o/s 2 piece thingis(in boutiques) fit me, are the dresses similar to the common 2 pieces?

There are some plus size gowns (not near as cute) , but would it be worth it to buy one and have it taken in in the waist and bust areas? How easy/difficult is that to do?

Alot of the sites don't offer returns for dresses, so I being careful not to waste my money on things that won't fit.

Do you know of any tailors? May get a custom made dress.

maybe go shopping at a store, find a dress that could look sexy, then have a tailor alter it so it can be worn at the club.

Depending on what you wanted it could be really easy to make.

Go to a fabric store and get a length of that cold heavy spandex. (It's not 'lycra' exactly and it drapes really beautifully) You can get it plain or with sparkles or that metallic/hologram print ect ect. (They'll know what you're talking about)

Anyway it doesn't fray so you don't need to hem it and it's really easy to work with.

The thicker heavier types like this

will hang better than the thinner types like this

I don't know how you want to do it but it might be simplest to work with something you own. Like a bustier, top or dress and then simply tacking a skirt to it. You could do it with nothing but scissors and a bunch of little pins. (Use the ones just like the little gold ones but silver, I find them to be a little stronger)

Or dresses and tops like these work well -

Or like these kinda things but with diamante strands (Running across your tummy one side to opposite hip kinda thing)

Pretty much ANYTHING at all will work as long as your skirt starts not too high or low on your hip. (If you could take the skirt away and ya kitty wouldn't hang out the bottom - it's too long.)

DON'TS!! (It's my post so I make the rules in it...)

    Too high

I'm not sure how tall you are, but from your measurements, you sound like a solid Medium for the Nom De Plume gowns.

^^^ you can search "nom de plume" on chelseas.

I like their gowns... they are sturdy, durable, stretchy, and quite pretty.

Oh, and I have 39" hips. I fit their size small. The material is really elastic. Also, if you chose a style of dress that has mesh in the waist area like : http://www.chelseasofnewyork.com/Pho...uctCode=3385-P

it may hug your curves better.
