Default My MAC Wishlist! I Need Help!!

When I go home for Christmas break I think I am going to indulge myself and start out on the journey to MAC-addiction. I just had a few questions for the pros in here about what I should do to make the most of my modest budget.

My short wishlist is as follows:

    Fluidline - Blacktrack
Liner Brush - Which is better 266 or 263? What is the difference?

Eyeshadow - Amber Lights, Nylon, and ... ??
    Eyeshadow Brushes - 239, 224, 222?, 219?
Pigments - Dark Soul, and either Naked/Vanilla/Your Ladyship ... which would you recommend?

Eyeshadow Base - Rubenesque Paint Pot or Beige-ing Shadestick or some sort of MAC Paint?

So any suggestions you have for me are greatly welcomed. If there is something I missed or something that I don't really need please let me know.

Here's a pic of my face (kind of goofy) so you can see what I look like and how I usually do my makeup

    Thanks!

I have the Vanilla pigment. It's good for the browbone and inner corner highlighting. I use it and frozen white a lot, depending on whether I'm doing a warm look or a cool look. It's a good staple to have hanging around your train case.

I don't really know about the rest. I have dark soul too but I hate it, so I can't really comment.

Beige-ing shadestick is the best product I ever bought from MAC. I love it as an eyeshadow base, and I rub a little under my eyes too to get rid of dark circles. It's just a tiny bit sparkly. This is the only MAC product I buy over and over.

I would go for Vanilla pigment over Nylon. It has way more uses and looks amazing on the browbone, cheekbones, etc. Choose another e/s so you'll have more to experiment with. Carbon is a staple, Bronze is really pretty, Mulch is another neutral staple. Have you thought about any colors? Deep Truth is the most beautiful dark sultry blue, Humid is rich sexy green. Hepcat is very sexy too, kind of a plum. All three of these would be great holiday colors.

Get 263 brush for Fluidline. It's synthetic which is better for gels and fluids. It will last longer than the 266 for this purpose.

222 is my fave eye brush. I use it for crease work. I also like 217 for blending. I use a few others but I get the most use out of those.

Other pigments - I used to love Dark Soul, but I like Carbon the best for super dark eyes. Dark Soul is really messy and leaves a lot of fallout on your cheeks. I love Violet, Blue, Melon, Fuchsia, Vanilla, Kelly Green, Teal, and all the Reflects glitters. I like many more but their not coming to mind right now.

I use Shimmersand or Beige'ing shadestick for a base. Occasionally a paint, butt they can be messy.

MAC has a bunch of holiday palettes and sets for sale right now, so I'd check those out. You get more product for the money and it's a great way to try new things!!

Have you thought about any lip products?

I third the dark soul dislike!

but i adore the blacktrack, it's my number 1 must have.

I think you should try out some color. Lilac pigment is the most beautiful color ever, and a great starting point.

you could even ask for a sample of it. As long as you buy a few products, they're pretty giving with the samples

I'd say if you get 5 products, you can definatly get 2 pigment samples. And there is enough in 1 sample for 20 or more applications.

I second Violet pigment. It's one of my faves. I also love pinked mauve, tan, old gold and naval blue pigments.

Absolutely do NOT get Creme de Violet e/s. It sucks, I hate it, I hate MYSELF for foolishly buying it because it looked pretty in the pot. I was deciding between it and Humid and I definitely made the wrong choice. The pigmentation sucks ass for what's supposed to be a highly pigmented product.

Also, aside from colors, I would cry buckets if they ever discontinued MAC lip primer. Even the crappiest, driest, cheapest lipstick looks and feels fabulous if you use primer first. I highly recommend that you pick one up.

No that is just my plain old eyebrows. I fill them in a bit with dark brown pencil for work.

I would like to get some colours at some point. I guess I figured the neutrals would get me started. I'm not sure what would look good with my eyes really, but I guess they could help me out at the counter.

I have no idea about lip stuff! I usually wear a light pink lipstick with clear gloss. So anything light and shimmery peachy/pink would work.

OK Axe the Dark Soul!! I will try out Carbon for dark eyes. And I will for sure ask for some samples.

Try "Still-Life" in paints. I heard Latina Rose recommend it some time ago as a primer for eye-shadow. I LOVE this stuff, as it makes my eye-shadow last ALL day long. I also apply a little to my cheeks since it looks dewy and glow-y. It has gotten my skin a lot of compliments.

Personally, it doesn't matter what colors you start out with. With a MAC addiction, you are sure to have just about every color available within a few months.

I second the comment by LR about the fluidline brush.

Neutrals are nice, but they don't add as much punch. You should definitely get Violet. I LOVE Violet!! I also love the Pink Opal/Violet combination.

Humid is amazing, along with Swimming, Vanilla, Frost, Old Gold, Teal, and Lovely Lily.

Actually, I love almost every color I have from MAC, and at last count...I think I was up to around 92 (shadows and piggies).

    Addictive.

    Very.

    Addictive.

Now I must visit the MAC store and get some more colors.

Definitely pick up a Plushglass in Ample Pink! I swear I have 6 tubes of this because I am paranoid of running out. It is my everyday color.

    I would also recommend:
    * Paints in Stilife - great as a base
*Shroom shadow - great highlight shade
*#182 brush - buffs your foundation to an airbrushed flawless finish
*Strobe cream - apply before foundation for a "glow"

If your getting Carbon I would try Typographic or Print to blend with. It is much easier to get a smooth look if you use one of the less intense colors under Carbon and to blend the edges. Carbon is extremely dark and sometimes gets all over your cheeks if you do tons of blending, so its great to use a less intense base color to avoid fallout.
