I think I have BV. I can't really afford an appointment at the doctor's right now. Is there an OTC medicine I can take?

Not for BV. Yu need an antibiotic like Flagyl. You can order it online frm Mexico if you can't afford to see a doctor. Try ww.mexmeds.com i think thats the website.
Oh man that sucks, I'm sorry![]()

What's BV?

bacterial vaginosis http://www.cdc.gov/std/bv/STDFact-Ba...-Vaginosis.htm
^ I may have given u the wrogn address, in the other thread u just made I gave u a link to the SW thread about online pharms.
Uuuuugh. I would NOT wait two weeks to treat BV! Go to your free clinic, there is one in every town. It might be totally free or $25 or so. They will give you a script, they can see BV right there under the microscope. Generic Flagyl isn't expensive.
Ladies, there is some options around! Check with your local city health clinics. Your taxes are paying for these places!

Yes. If the infection isn't treated, the bacteria may get up into the uterus or the fallopian tubes and cause more serious infections. Treating bacterial vaginosis lowers this risk. Treatment is especially important in pregnant women.<snip>

You can become very sick if not treated. Ups your risk for PID as well. Besides, its hard to work when your bits don't smell right.

^^Yeah, I worked with a girl who had BV but she didn't get it treated and it went into her fallopian tubes. She was in SO much pain that it hurt her to move.
Go get treated. Just know that if you get yeast infections easily, you're probably going to get one from the Flagyl, so go ahead and see if you can get something to treat that too. Better to be prepared than to have to pay to see a doc twice, ya know?
Does anyone have experience buying this on medsmex? It says 10 Flagyl 500mg ovulos (inserts maybe?) are $7.95 and 60 (wow!) tabs of Flagyl 250 mg. are $9.40
Anyone know what is better?
I use medsmex.com all the time. Great site, no problems and ususally takes 2 weeks to receive meds. I would think the oral med is better than the inserts,b/c it works from the inside out but that's just my opinion. I would probably get both at those prices.
Like someone else mentioned thought I would not wait 2 weeks to treat bv, need to see someone about it asap.
BV treatment with flagyl is 500 mg by mouth twice a day for a week. I've heard of metrogel (flagyl in gel form that can be taken vaginally) but never the ovules
I have used the metrogel and never had a yeast infection as a result. maybe in that form it is less likely to cause a problem. and works like a charm.

I believe that antibiotics (flagyl being one of them) taken when someone is one birth control is mainly the cause of post antibiotic yeast infections.
