Can you volunteer at the USO? Read children's books in the Post Library? Take the lead in the Family support group and organize care packages and video letters?

Everybody else is jealous or freezing their asses off. Your in Hawaii.

Can you take any solace in knowing that I'm insanely jealous and wish I were in Hawaii, in love, and married? Congratulations on the baby!

The positive is that you are in a warm, beautiful place and in an easy-going, friendly environment.

It is difficult to go through what you are going through alone, but consider this a test of your personal strength.

Perhaps what would be beneficial to you is to explore your new surroundings. Take a walk on the beach, get an easy-going part-time job...use this time as "me-time".

I understand how you feel. I'm a single mom living far away from friends and family. I've grown to appreciate my alone time, in fact I cherish it!!

volunteering will definitely help you find like-minded individuals, get you out of the house, and on the upside, help you find a babysitter when you are going nuts.

Hormones are probably contributing to your feelings, though I must say anyone would be a little overwhelmed.

Once the natives get over teasing you for being a "haole" (don't take it personally) they are very warm and will reach out to you, especially with your being a young military wife and mother....& You do have resources available to you through the military.

(I soo wish I was in Hawaii right now, I am sooo jealous.)

I think my nephew is going out with the same group.

    1. There's plenty of people there who feel just as disconnected. You'd probably have a hard time finding an enviroment more conducive to making new friends.

    2. It's the 21st century. You can keep in touch with people back on the ConUS.

    3. The biggest part of feeling self-conscious, alone or disconnnected is that you're aware of feeling it. Just like people are already advising you: you're in Hawaii. Breathe. Get out into the sun. You'll be okay, and the rest will have to take care of itself.

Aweeeee, I should come visit family over there and meet up with you! You dont have to feel alone, the natives there are very friendly. I know the military base. Can be at time not so friendly and full of tulmolt. You could go to the fleet family support center. I just dont think they help much! They did not make me feel, any better when transitioning from one base to another! Yet it might help you, I never went to the one in Hawaii. But I know they have sociologist you can talk to, being the stress you are under! They should have a support group. I just never went to them, but others like the support groups.

But they do have a list of fun activities you can do on the island. You never know who you might meet. I hear we have some people on SW. That already live in hawaii. Maybe you can meet up with them, and hang out.

I was looking at this artist painting. It was a picture of the sun setting across the ocean. I realize how much I miss living on an island. There are so many beautiful views on the island. I have my spot on the island that out away from everything, you have to climb up this big rock and it faces, the ocean. I will wacth the sun rise or set. While hearing the sounds of the ocean. It was just those peaceful moments. To me that was so beautiful. To me it is so beautiful that the camera can not capture it's beauty. I took this view for granted, and I so miss it!

Hawaii have such beauty to it, you will just have to discover it. Just maybe discovering the island beauty. Will bring you some sort of peace during this differcult time. My ex went to Iraq. So I can understand some of your feelings.

You can keep in contact with family over the internet. You can do this everyday on yahoo. This will save you on phone cards. Get a micro phone head set and call them on yahoo. If you both have yahoo. The call is free. Get out and meet Hawaii. There are locals who will welcome you into thier arms like family. Hehe my grandmother will, and she will also teach you have to make coconut oil from the coconuts. (warning all day process).

Go eat at Sam Choy for me. OOOOOOOOOOOh I miss his food. Go to mandara spa for me. I love thier facial and massages. Or better yet try the sea weed wrap. It is not bad that you are alone in Hawaii. People are friendly verses the big City. Go visit maui, and kona. Go get your diving certificate. If you have it already, have your certificate go to Maui and dive.

So in all I am trying to say, please go out and keep busy. Buy doing this you might meet some people. Who makes you feel close to home.

If all else fell, we will just have to do SW fest in Hawaii!

Is this the same husband who treats you like his personal slave? At least you can get some rest while he's away. Enjoy the warm air and sunshine, take a nap when you need one, and take the opportunity to ease up on the housework. You could take a class in something interesting (not only would you learn, but you'd meet people too) or join a church or something.

You're in Hawaii!! To me that sounds like being on vacation everyday!! (That's what I used to say about living in Arizona, too!)
