I would go ahead take them in prepration for your preganancy or you could just get the womens ultra mega at gnc. Make sure to up your folic acide.

My doctor recommended Centrum Materna for me, but if the high iron dosage makes you sick try the Pregvit ones.

Yea i was taking them for hair growth a month or so ago, and the bottle says to take before trying to get pregnant, during and after for a time.
I bought 'Finest Prenatal Complete'. But when you do get pregnant and see the Doc. he (mine did) should prescribed huge horse prenatal vitamins.

It's definitely a good idea to be taking folic acid before you try to conceive, and that way, once you actually are pregnant, you're already taking them before you even know you're a host organism!
I take the Rainbow Light Prenatal One. They're vegan and food-based, which I prefer, and they also have an herbal blend AND digestive enzymes to aid morning sickness (it helped quite a bit, I think). I get it at Whole Foods, but any similar store should carry it.

I just went for my annual and discovered that I'm still very anemic. I've always been anemic but had been treating it with regular multivitamins.
Anyways, my Doc told me to step it up a notch and start taking prenatals. I'm not pregnant and don't plan to be in the near future.
She recommended this brand from Costco for $12.49

my friend took them.. she was NOT trying to get pregnant... they are basically just an all around good vitamin for skin hair and nails and basically everything else...
I've been taking them for a few months now and they've been great for my hair, skin and nails.
I got a wicked breakout last week, and my period got here today ten days late, but that was probably because I didn't take very good care of myself throughout most of December.
But I digress...You can get some good brands OTC, but if you have insurance or are willing to splurge, Citracal Prenatal+DHA are excellent.

Paige - what kind do you use? I have been using the Wal-Mart Hair Pills and Hair, Skin, & Nails vitamins for hair growth on and off for over 2 years, but I think I have built up a tolerance because they aren't working as well as they did in the beginning. I was thinking of switching to prenatal to see if I got better results.

It's recommended that all women hoping to be pregnant one day take them...even if it's years down the road. I usually like GNC's vitamins.
They are really good for you, especially if you are considering getting pregnant in the future. I've been on them for the past 5yrs (since I got preggo with my 1st son). My 1st OB said Vitafol was best (prescription only), but my 2nd said he didn't write scripts for Pre-natals because they were all basically the same. Really not sure what the best brand is.
I don't know either. I went to Walgreens and asked the pharmacy. So i got what they said. I noticed i still need a multi. Prenatals (at least the one i have) does not have enough other RDA nutrients in it. So i take half a prenatal and half a multi. Seems to be fine so far. I don't want too much Iron, but again i get heavy periods. Guess i am doing it right.![]()
