    Default A good vacation spot?

One of the things im GOING to do next year is go on vacation. Want to go out of the country. I want somewhere somewhat educational, different, fun. Somewhere I can take my 9 year old also.

    Phillipines maybe?
Thailand (curious if this is a bad place to go, that movie with the 2 girls and the drugs worries me)

I just dont know. I want somewhere relatively safe but mellow, not necessarily beaches but I want to go somewhere without a lot of hustle and bustle. Or rather somewhere thats not all technology - ya know what I mean? Like street markets = yes. Malls = no

    Any help?

My parents took a cruise from Ecuador to the Galapagos Islands and loved it. They got to do some shopping and sightseeing in Ecuador beforehand and it sounded very much like what you described re:street markets and such. I bet it would be very educational and the pics were out of this world!

How many hours are you willing to fly one way or round trip? My flight to Bangkok from LAX took 17 hours of total plane time one way and 15 hours the way back. Your daughter would be lucky anywhere you take her. To be 9 years old and start to see the world.

Look into Costa Rica. I was watching this show & they were talking about how CR is a great place to vacation, cheap and they have a HUGE outdoor spa in some town.
