It pretty much comes down to better oral hygeine: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halitosis
I have read that tonsil stones can be a contributing factor. I have excellent oral hygiene, but I still get these damn things forming in little crevices in and behind my tonsils. It's disgusting, but the best way I have found to deal with them is to just try and push them out when they start to form...It sucks.
But they're definitely not the only thing that causes halitosis.
You could try chlorophyll supplements. I feed them to my boyfriend when he gets stinky. They may or may not help... I also make him scrape his tongue, which is another thing you could try.
Drought was over. Where was I? Drinks were on the house.
For mixers, my love, you'd poured--what?--even the rain.
I second the tonsil stones thing... I get chunks of food stuck in the folds in the back of my throat occasionally, so I fish them out and they usually smell like sin. (gross sry) Also, more flossing is key! Especially around the molars.

Bad breath should be investigated by a doctor and dentist. It can be a sign of illness. Sinus problems cause bad breath. I think diabetes does too.
There are many stereotypes about the industry that I work in. Sometimes they can be true but human beings are very diverse creatures and cannot be pigeon-holed into one category.
Some of the most effortlessly beautiful, kind, intelligent, successful, motivated, driven and ridiculously hilarious women that I have ever met have been dancers. I've met the best friends that I've ever had in this industry.
^^^ True! And ketosis, which is the desired result of the Atkin's diet. It's a toxic state for the body to be in.

I think that tonsil stones are also called "tonsiloliths", which would (IMO) be a great name for a rock band ("Introducing an incredible group of musicians from Monmouth, New Jersey: "The Tonsiloooliiiiths!!!")![]()
Why is it so difficult to tell certain people that they have halitosis?
I have a coworker with breath that typically smells like hot, boiled camel ass.
I often give her a piece of gum (which I usually carry/share anyway, so that's not really a giveaway) but I still stop short of saying, "You know, O---, there's something I need to tell you..."

Besides what everyone else has said, its very important to drink lots of water. Dry mouth makes for yucky mouth smells. I take a medication that occasionaly causes dry mouth. I am VERY careful to drink lots and lots of water.
Also, alcohol based products like mouthwash can actually make bad breath WORSE, because it dries out the mouth.

^^^^They smell like dog poop. Maybe dog breath...whatever, they STINK!!

groooooosssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I also heard that Halitosis has nothing to do with oral hygiene, but more with a stomach problem...
I have to do some research now.
