Definitely. I personally think all surgery is serious.
Uhm, yea. There IS a risk of dying from being put to sleep.

just with it becoming more common in everyday life its like its become a simple task like going to the supermarket, was sad to read over in Venezuela its common for breast implants as a 15th birthday present
^^^ True but that doesnt mean its not major surgery. It is and shouldnt be taken lightly (altho it is)
you're being put to sleep and cut open....if that's not major surgery, what is?
Anyone who has had augementation would consider it Major surgery imo.
I consider 99.9999999999 percent of all surgery's serious.

Why would a 15 yr old need a BA????

here are a few links about it

I consider heart, intestinal, brain surgery 'major' surgeries.
But all surgeries are potentially lethal (from being put under, or from infection, etc), and they are all serious. I used to be the assistant in lots and lots of animal surgeries (because the other vet assistants often got queasy). It all involves being sliced open. Once you see that in person, or see a doctor drilling through bone, or pulling out organs...yeesh. It's definitely 'major' in a sense of the word. That said, some operations are obviously more complicated than others...and more dangerous.

ah. double post.

um. ya. it's pretty fucking major!!!

Yes having just gone through it I can say it is. Being cut open is major surgery. But if you compare it to open heart surgery, organ transplants - well obviously there are different levels of seriousness.
Not to mention people who have cosmetic procedures are generally (and should be) in good health whereas some very ill people have other types of surgeries and obviously for that reason their recovery would be more difficult.
There are many stereotypes about the industry that I work in. Sometimes they can be true but human beings are very diverse creatures and cannot be pigeon-holed into one category.
Some of the most effortlessly beautiful, kind, intelligent, successful, motivated, driven and ridiculously hilarious women that I have ever met have been dancers. I've met the best friends that I've ever had in this industry.
If it's not outpatient, it's serious for sure in my book.
However it's not nearly as delicate or invasive as other types (see MM's post).
gawd. the last three nz members ive read posts from have been...um... somewhat lacking in type, or written in TERRIBLE english. i know we arent allowed to say much about this to posters, and we arent all perfect (hell, im queen of crap typos!lol) but its like theres a pattern here.
does NZ have a shit english system in school? just curious... lol
as far as the OP's subject? yep, a BA is serious surgery, in venezuela success is about beauty, i can see why they do think its necessary to have a BA at such a young age, but imo its a stupid age to have any asthetic operations.

so many people said to me "you dont need a nose job or a boob job". I kept saying "no one NEEDS a nose job or a boob job, however it can improve people's self image/esteem so what is wrong with that?".
