Default errr.. a little computer help, please?

geeks (or people who are slightly geekier than i), i need your help.

for some reason, any time i try to copy and paste any text at all, whether it's in my browser, notepad, whatever, when i paste it just comes up as an asterisk. sometimes in notepad i'll paste the copied text once, but if i paste again i just get an asterisk. sometimes it'll just do the asterisk.

i've tried rebooting. wtf is going on???

okay i opened up my clipboard viewer, and it's just got an asterisk there. when i copy something else it flases up on the clipboard for a split second, then is replaced with a fucking asterisk again.

do i need to reinstall my clipboard or something?

Begin by first clicking on the Start Button.
Then, move your mouse over the Programs menu folder until it expands.
Now move your mouse onto the Accessories menu folder until it expands.
Then move your mouse onto the System Tools menu folder until it expands.
Now Click on the Clipboard Viewer Icon to launch the Clipboard Viewer program.
Notice how the Clipboard contains a record of your recent copy and paste inputs.
To empty your Clipboard, click on the word Edit located within your top tool bar area.
Then click on the word Delete from the pull down menu that appears.
Windows will ask you if you want to Clear the contents of the Clipboard.
Click on the Yes button to allow Windows to clear the Clipboard.
Notice how your former imputed information is now cleared from the Clipboard.
Then close the Clipboard Viewer Window to return to your Windows session.

Run adaware or spybot. Sounds like a script that is actually trying to prevent you from clipboarding. One of those script kiddie "annoy me" utilities.

ah, it was just some stupid spyware, spybot got rid of it. i think it came from a tattoo site i was looking at, because i fixed it, went back to this site, and it started happening again.

kinda glad i found out that it was from that site tho, cos i was considering buying some tattoo designs from there... glad i realised the site was bad before i entered my credit card details into it.

    What browser?

If it's Firefox, this is a known problem.
