could it be due to dust? Maybe try an air purifier.

The most common winter allergy is dust mites.

I'm guessing mold, dust, or new pet? Sometimes, sunny climes get allergies in winter- weather.com has national allergy maps, plus option for individual cities allergy situation.
My girlfriend said she had this and it turned into a severe sinus infection. At least I know what I have to look forward to now....

It could have turned into a sinus infection as a result of the fluid not draining. Maybe try some benadryl to relieve the itchiness and to make sure the fluid doesn't accumulate. Oh, and if it is from dust, air purifiers work wonders. I have one in my son's room because he's allergic to dust mites.
It usually happens in the Spring because people are sensitive to pollen - and Spring is when a lot of things are flowering so...
Well you're allergic to something though it would seem so you need to track it.
*Say every half hour/hour make a note of how you feel and what's happening.
*If you can remember any details of this back from when it first started that would be really helpful too.
*Anything new! (In the past few weeks or so.) At home - cleaning products, washing powder, mascara? tinsel?? Anything at all! Around your home neighbors doing anything, things blooming? (Have you lived there long?) Any neighbors experiencing it too?
*Work? Places you go? People you see?
Find the patterns.
Mites and mould I'm slightly skeptical about because most people you hear of having to be really anal about that stuff - are that way because it's their kids that are allergic. So if this is the first time I'd be inclined to think you would've been plagued by it already and it's something else. But who knows?? (It can be expensive to sterilize is all and if it is something else...?)
But in the meantime you can get heaps of over-the-counter things for your sufferings. You need something with an antihistamine.
(And if speed junkies haven't ruined it for you - something with pseudo-ephedrine in it too would do the trick. If they try to sell you that phenylephrine crap tell them to jam it. My mum works in a chemist and she used to LOVE not selling pseudo-ephedrine to anyone! - Unless they had a teething two year old in tow...
She's a mum and there was NO WAY she could justify selling them phenylephrine - because it just does not work!!) So hopefully you don't have any dramas... otherwise good luck with that one.
Failing all of that
You can get a 'Prick Test' done (get a script while you're there so you can go back and smirk in the faces of any 'counter bitches' you just wanted to shake and say "Stop playing god and just give me my damn medicine, you Haggis!")
Anyway the Prick Test - just like it sounds - they poke you (gently) with pin after pin of known allergins until they get a hit. There are different tests the initial one doesn't have all that many. But if that turns up nothing they widen the net.
Refresh Allercan eye drops are pretty neat (and cheap!!) too. As it just occurred to me (after all that *sigh*) that you're not sneezing. You're nose is running but of course it is if you're eyes are itchy and watering! Are you getting that 'tonnes of cat hair on my face' feeling? Or just scratchy eyes? (If you have a fringe pull it back see if that helps?) ?? Hope you're better soon, Chick!

^my son had that test done that's how we were able to determine that dust mites were the culprit.

I often get very bad allergies after dancing for customers that probably have pets. I am allergic to all sorts of animals, and they alwasy come in with fur and dander all over themselves. Maybe that could be part of it?

I got a horrible allergy attack the other day, in the dead of winter here. So bad that my nose turned beet red from blowing, constant nose running, etc, bleh. I think it may be dust, altho I do have a couple small plug in air cleaners. I did take an Alevert (non-drowsy allergy med.). It helped somewhat. I try to take at least 1,000 mg or more vit. C. & also garlic.

Its the eyes that are killing me... now theyre really really swollen, itchy, draining yucky stuff. Nose isnt so bad now just the eyes.
I know its not pet dander because I have always had pets and never had a reaction (not to mention I havent been out of the house in days)
Ill grab some benadryl and hope that helps....
Its the beginning of Cedar Fever here in Central Texas. The cedar spores bloom when it becomes very cold and wicked allergies result. Perhaps there are similar types of trees in your region?
Also, it can take a few years to build intolerance to certain allergens that have always been present.

I'm allergic to both (in addition to pollen and animal dander lucky me) and I have more issues in the winter due to them than other times of the year.
*sorry if that was fulla typos/discombobulated, just got home from work.... sooo tired.

My allergies always get worse in the winter. I'm allergic to mold.
