Default Dan Fogelberg "Leader Of The Band" dies at 56

And I'm going to have that song in my head the rest of the day, so I thought I'd share. You can blame me if it starts echoing.

I don't know why, but whenever someone who's music played on 70's-80's AM radio, which my parents forced me to listen to on those trips to Grandma's house...its kind of sad, even if their music was sentimental.

Aww. Takes me right back to being driven around in my parent's 70's Volvos. I always liked that "Another Auld Lang Syne" song.

Wow, takes me back too. And makes me feel sad and old. Ah well, RIP DF.

Oh how sad. My mom would always sing "Leader of the Band" about her father. It always makes me cry.

    Ditto, DA

Fogelberg broke onto the music scene during an era when great rock, soul and folk were played side-by-side in rotation on the same radio station(s). Hearing the news of his passing is like regaining a piece of that--and losing it at the same time.

There's a touching eulogy posted at

"I may quit the music business someday, but never the music."

I'm with all of you--he had some wonderful stuff--I liked "A Place In The World for a Gambler"; what a gifted creator--I'm glad he was here, making music for us.
