Default A Cheaper Alternative to Starbucks

The Food Mart at Exxon! They have tons of coffees and coffee drinks.

I got a huge breakfast blend, with a little dark roast thrown in there for flavor. They have chilled creams too. I took French Vanilla, so much yummier cold. Finally, they have little packets with a "caffeine shot" at no extra cost. Its about the size of a single-serve coffeemate creamer.

All of this for $1.50. And that's for 24 oz of coffee. Starbucks can really add up if you drink it every day. This coffee tastes awesome and I can customize. Although I usually make my own coffee, or drink it at work, this is nice for a day I don't feel like either.

I hit gas station coffeepots often enough... I wish there was some Quality Control aspect to it though. I've had decent coffee from there, but often there's duds.

(Re: Starbucks- nice to see they're amending that whole burnt tire taste that made me stop drinking their product.)

For the most part, gas station coffee is shit. But the Exxon Tigermart is a national chain, and I think there is some regulation. The one I go to is near work, and in a very nice, high-traffic area, so they take good care of it.

Actually...the Exxon by my house is in the ghetto, and their coffee is very good too. So perhaps there is some quality control?

You know what, you're so right, and they've had good coffee for a while now. Back when I used to live in Travis Heights and work at the pre-Palazio Show P, I frequently stopped at the Tigermart for coffee. Good donuts, too.

Okay, you are so cool for making a thread about gas station coffee!!!! Love you bunches!!!!

I'll have to pay double close attention next time to Exxon, but wtf and meh, I'd still rather have 7-11 coffee, but it's tight that you can be all fancy and experimental with those flaaaaavors.

Man- I have been drinking SO much Starbucks lately. But mostly its been espresso and I buy cans of it to keep at home. It gets DAMN expensive but its so convenient. Do you think they sell those little caffeine packets in the store though?

You could just take some extra before you leave. hehe
I'll have to give tigermart coffee a try. Theres one near school. I have a cute lil coffee shop next to me that I can get a large dark roast for 1.75.

Dudes, I drank all of that coffee in about an hour, and way overdosed myself. I was super shaky at the office for a little while. No big deal, I'm used to much stronger stimulants, but it kind of sucked, I didn't need that much of a rush.

The "extra caffeine" packets were free, from what I saw. There is a warning on them not to take more than 2 per day. Its black in color, and I don't know what it tastes like, as it blended into the rest of the coffee.

Next time, smaller size, no extra shot, lol! All good now.

That's funny......I get the same kind of dumbass "caffiene side effects" W/O the brain-alertness that you get with a real brand, whenever I have gas station coffee.

^I've been grabbing 7-11 java on the way to work lately. There's a Dunkin right next door, but there's usually a line. 7-11 has this new stuff called "Fusion" coffee, basically it's energy drink coffee? Guarana and such in it, you know. I haven't tried it yet since it sounds a bit funky but MrsC likes it. I just grab a 20-oz, throw my stuff in, and add a couple of ice cubes so it's actually a drinkable temperature. Those Dunkin cups are ridiculous. My coffee will still be surface-of-the-sun hot 30 minutes later. I can't tell you how many times I've burned the tip of my tongue attempting to gauge if it was cooled down enough. I hate that.

Anyway, no Tigermart around here really, though the A+ mart at Sunoco has decent coffee, and there's always Wawa. Starbucks can eat a box of cocks as far as I am concerned..

Yeah, why IS their coffee so freakin' hot, anyway? Glad to know it's not just me, anyway.

I'll drink coffee from just about anywhere; gas station coffee, hotel coffee, convenience store coffee, starbuck's coffee, instant coffee.. they all do the job.
