    Default Dinner with his parents

First time meeting them... dinner on x-mas eve. It will be his parents, his brother, and his brother's wife. What to wear?! Like... I have something modest and cute (jeans, heels, shirt with a sweater texture), but it would be waaayyy too cold! What to do?

I guess I should add that I am the ultimate pussy when it comes to cold... ULTIMATE! I guess I should just find a decent jacket and some closed toed shoes?

Add a fun and funky scarf and maybe a hat to the above ensemble. I usually try to go for "playful" rather than "smokin' sex kitten" when meeting new family.

^^^ Yeah, I would say dress conservative around the family. Even downplay your sexiness, like wear a sportsbra so you look flat. Look sexy in front of his friends. Dress like a librarian around his family.

There are some really cute heavy sweaters, such as:

and also cute turtlenecks like this:

if you're into styles like that! Those would go well with your jeans. The boots sound like a good idea, too! Classy, sophisticated, sexy, but not over the top.

He said it was really casual... He's wearing slacks and a polo. Lol, I don't think I own any conservative, classy, casual clothes... I think I need to head to the mall... Sooo, boots, jeans, a cute sweater... and some sort of shirt??

It's always nice to wear a shirt the first time you meet your bf's parents

I usually don't wear shirts, actually, under sweaters, as they make me feel bulky. But I know that around here, the style is to layer things...like wear plain shirts under low cut sweaters.

Yea, I usually just wear tank tops under my sweaters... but I'm worried that they would be too low in case I wanted to take off my sweater. :/

Really? That would drive me nuts - having to hide myself from my bf's family. I guess I figure that if his family is that uncomfortable with me (and my boobs) it's not a good fit.

Anyhow, a light shirt under the sweater should be fine. You'll be indoors most of the night, no?

I would suggest something nice like... hmm. A long-sleeved, fitted sweater shirt with a modest v or scoop neckline, some pretty, tasteful jewelry, and a pea coat with some comfy slacks or jeans. Wear closed-toed boots or pumps. Good luck and have fun!

Yes. I wouldn't call it hiding myself, I'd call it being respectful. She has never met them before, she doesn't know what they're like, and she's a guest in their home on a religeous holiday. There is one person in my family (who is otherwise very sweet) that shows cleavage at all family functions. It makes everyone squirm.

Ack! We don't want to have to make up some lie... so we're telling him what I do!! (Well, he's telling them himself first).

I do agree with being respectful, but I don't agree that you have to wear a sportsbra to "flatten your boobs" to do so . If you have boobs you have boobs.

If you're going to the mall, anything from Ann Taylor would work. Banana Republic too.
