    Default World without us.

Mouse over the boxes to see what might happen after Humans all die off for whatever reason.

The last one is mind blowing.

    Exellent!
The NME (British music press) did a simular thig in 1984 as some sort of tribute to the book 1984. It focussed more on what it would be like to live in a city if suddenly everything went wrong - and the only bit i remember clearly was that Londons sewer system would only cope for 2 days and then raw sewage would be coming back up out of peoples toilets and flooding homes O-:

Actually the last may not be true. The universe will expand until it rip apart thereby destroying everything including space and time - sweet!!! Not that I want to bum u out or anything

    And that is unproven.

I like the barn roof one!

Is it wrong of me to see the humour in the house cats being so rampant? Finally, they get to dominate the world like they had planned all along...

....and somewhere "out there" someone is getting The Simpsons (since that show seems to go on forever)!

In re the sun: I learnt about that back in Grade 10 Science. The sun is a star ultimately and a baby one at that.. when it finally grows and dies (like all other stars).. it will take the earth with it.

It would be some tough cats to survive the foxes, coyotes, wolves, bobcats, wolverines, and so on that would find them to be a new readily available food source.

The ultimate entropy of the universe is unproven, but heck, so is this guy's musings. It's just fun to ponder.

House cats would kick ass, Jay. They are practically taking over Australia RIGHT NOW. When they go feral, they go FERAL.

As an Australian, and a cat lover, I'm all for shooting feral cats. Never under-estimate a feral cat. They are so so so much more 'smarter' in a way that domesticated cats. They are a real problem just like the rabbits, cane toad and quite a few other 'introduced' species (except camels which seem to be one of the few introduced species that hasn't harmed the eco system so much).

Regardless, I found it interesting food for thought.

Australia's not quite a fair comparison. Due to its evolutionary isolation, it's susceptible to contamination. Witness the rabbits. The big opportunistic place for cats and dogs would be New Zealand, with its lack of natural predators.

Buffalo would be the American elephant, but far more of them. They're big, strong, mean, and they've got good herd instincts and balance with the food source. Without humans around, they'd grow to cover the Great Plains again, in the millions.

Let's not forget the fireworks show when the International Space Station's orbit hits terminal decay.

Hell, bunny rabbits almost took over Australia!

Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"

I had the opposite reaction. Just think about how old the Giza Pyramids are, and they were built without the benefit of modern technology. (unless, of course, they were built by space aliens)

The cesspool that is Houston has washed away and cats rule the world? Wow, sounds like a dream!

Wonder how long those "time capsules" we planted in 5th grade will be around...maybe we should've made them out of diapers or something.

AND no roaches or lice! Maybe we can leave for a bit? And come back as the servants of feral cats?

I think it's pretty wild, and a testament to ancient human ingenuity, that our first structures might well be the last structures.

And, Jay Zeno, i never said the ultimate entropy of the Universe was unproven. Everything that has a beginning has an end, but the "Big Rip" where atoms fly apart isn't very proven. First off it starts with galaxies increasing speed until they travel faster than light, which nothing can do under current physics (And would really fuck up our stargazing!).
