    Default A Religion Thought...

I was thinking on my way to church last night, isn't it kind of odd that there are religions that view God as a female, but none that view Satan as a female? Satan is always male, if there is a "Satan" at all.

If I'm wrong, I'd love to know. I just think of weird shit when I'm driving and then obsess about it.

Norse mythology had a goddess of the underworld, Hel. And then there's the apocryphal demon/succubus/first wife of Adam, Lilith....not exactly Satan incarnate but just throwing them out there.

    It is interesting, though.

    No, not true at all.

Whilst not necessarily "evil", there are other mythological beings that are regarded (generally by those of a black n white mindset) that are "not of the light" such as Lilith, Medusa and so forth.

However if you look deeper into the mythological stories of these "not of the light" beings, you will see that there is more to them and the lessons that they bring and want to teach you.

Due to being of Pagan persuasion, I'm not of the "black n white" mindset that a lot of Christian churches preach (as I was raised Catholic and believed it til I "woke up") so I do not fear these beings. I respect them and the lessons that they teach about humanity and life.

( Hey Sunday we had a similar thought and nearly posted at the same time!)

^Very true! There was so much overlap in culture from Babylonians, Mesopotamians, all those different religions blending together, that "good" and "evil" were totally changed back and forth. Not to get too far off-topic but even Satan is not universally regarded as "evil;" Satanists IIRC are more focused on earthly satisfaction than the promise of an afterlife but it's a far cry from bowling with kittens. So looking at Satan that way, there are a LOT of female incarnations throughout different cultures: pretty much every "pleasure principle" demon or deity, which ummmm is most of 'em.

One reason is that the Satan is a fallen angel of God and in the bible there are no female names for any of the angels. This is why religons based on the bible believe that satan is a male. Also why they believe there were no female angels.

Re-posted as .. yup! Sunday has it.. even modern day Satanism is nothing like the propaganda that the churches like to spew forth about it. I know, I've got the books that I bought from the Christian book store when I was researching Demonology way back when I was in my late teens.

Real Satanism is a philosophy more than a "religion" as such. You could even say that Satanists and Atheists share a lot of common ground as both don't believe in an after-life as such.. and believe in making good with the life you have got now and not wasting it (thus not believing some 'promise' of an after-life).

Satan is also portrayed as male predominately because Christianity is a patriarchal religion. Tho' Liz Hurley did a damn good job of making Satan female

I think of creators and spirits as not having much need for genitals.

Although I'm sure they would give themselves good ones.

True! They could visit SW and find that the majority of women prefer between 7-8" and that not all pussies were created equal. It's like SW is a PSA to genitally-enhanced deities!

Damn i wonder why I'm never added to anyone's signature. I love the sound of my own type.

"He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"

Many of the religions that have female deities that are "dark" also have female deities that are "light", or however you would term that.. I was just wondering why it is that the religions where there is one God and one Devil, God can be male or female based on your preference, but the Devil is male, always.

I personally don't really buy into Satan as "evil personified" or anything, I believe that Satan is simply God's opposite. You can't have the light without the dark kind of thing, you know.

    omg, I lol'ed.

I actually went to church once in my six inch heels because I had just left work... got some stares, but no one said a thing. I just love my church for that... former Satanists, goth, ravers, and strippers!

Who says either God or Satan have gender?

In Genesis, there are TWO creation stories, and in the second one, it says, "God created them in his own image, male and female created he them." So, it takes BOTH male and female to replicate the image of God.

I don't see a need to believe in the Supernatural - that is Heaven and Angels and Life after death, etc.

Where could Heaven be? There is no LOCATION in the Universe for it.

If 'God' is universal, with all the billions of possible planets, most of which are much older than Earth and some will have intelligent life, then how could all those SOULS be managed? Or is there a God and a Heaven for each planet?

I cannot see us humans as the only intelligent, planet-dominators in the absolutely HUGE Universe. What if there are several intelligent dominators on some planets; how would 'God' handle that?

I just can't see this concept, despite how comfortable it is to us poor humans.

Religion is controversial by its own definition. Mysticism isn't so much I'd guess because it's more personal.

I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.
