Default Hand me my Geritol please.....

so I'm in Target yesterday....they have this t-shirt that harkens back to days of my youth, the good ol' "Frankie say Relax" shirt.

I'm all excited! Want to buy it and wear it so I can feel like a teenager again!

Then I hear from behind, a teenage girl asks her mom......
    "Who is Frankie?"

    Just shoot me now.
    God I'm old.

I made a Kaj-a-googoo reference to a vendor I talk with almost hourly, shes in her early 20s, in in my late, and all I heard was a deafening silence on the phone....needless to say it just hits you hard when those moments happen...

Um, I'm 31 and I don't know what either one of you are talking about. Who's Frankie? and what's Kajagoogoo?

Did those bads have music videos? I don't remember them at all. But I watched MTV as soon as my parents would leave the room and as much as possible.

OMG, that brings back memories. I saw FGTH at The Beacon in NYC and STILL have the shirt that Holly threw into the audience (well, it's in tatters because I had to fight for it, lol)

Wanna hear something funny? I was 17 and the band was named for Sinatra...

"When I was 17, it was a very good year..."

    sigh...I just realized my mortality.

Oh no!! Of course I had my "old" music moment at work years ago. That Crazy TOwn song came on saying "you and me were like sid and nancy"...and an 18 yr old asked me who Sid and Nancy were.

    I felt old

We often listen the oldies station at work, and when I hear something like Hall and Oates or John Mellencamp on there, I almost break down in tears.

The crazy thing with "oldies" and today's teens, is that they have no clue that they are listening to old music.

My Stepson (who is 13) loves The Beatles. He also really diggs AC/DC and The Ramones.

We don't have a TV, so he gets all of his pop culture info from the internet. I love the modern age. I wish I were 13 today...

Pass me some Geritol while you're at it Susan-Va.

My son just turned 16. He is an accomplished musician, so he knows good music when he hears it.

His T-shirt collection includes The Beatles, AC/DC, Ozzy Osbourne (the Randy Rhoads years especially) and Led Zeppelin (his personal favorite). He also gets into the old school Metallica and Megadeth.

He listens to very little of the new music. He finds it quite dull. My kid ROCKS!!!
