    Default Lace Front Wig?

I may have an opportunity to buy one of these babies. I have done my research but I am still not sure how "real" they look. I know it takes some time to get the application down and everything but my hair is damaged from hi-lights and chemical relaxers I have ethnic hair so that crap can be extremely damaging to it. I want to cut it very short and grow it out for the next two years.

I have been doing my reading on black hair forum and they have very many helpful tips, but I was wondering if anyone on stripperweb had any Lace front expirience and or any for sale - I really don't have 400 or even 200 to spend right at the moment. I know, a used wig, but I have heard you can clean it different ways.

    Long post ahead

I own about a dozen of these. I have 2 that are full lace from beautybymatt.com and are worth about 2k each and the rest are half lace/lace front ranging in that $300-$500 range. I use different wigs for photoshoots and work (I'm an escort for my day job - BBW Pinup on the side) and when I used to do promo stuff I'd wear the expensive glamorous wigs cuz it was up close/hugging/arm over the shoulder/schmoozing/touching involved.

$400 is a normal price for a pretty good stock size unit (stock size is all medium, basically for normal sized heads with your hair fully braided down in small braids). $200... good luck. It's just not worth it, IMO. I'm not a member on any hair boards but I lurk around the lace wig part of Black Hair Media and got most of my info about wigs from there before I purchased.

The application process is not as tricky as people would have you to believe. Wipe down the area right in front of your hairline with alcohol and let it dry. Don't touch it at all. Apply tape in the back and behind your ears when you're just starting out and then use a liquid adhesive in the front. A very thin line is all you need. Get a manicuring stick like an orange stick to help you with the application. I recommend either putting it on in the front or the back first to start because you have to be very precise with it. Let the adhesive completely dry. That can take about half an hour. Don't touch it at all....seriously! Or else it will have globs and white spots in it depending on what you use.

There are tons of application vidoes and stuff on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=myhair247 <--- that is a good one.

The good wigs are almost undetectable. This is Matt Yeadle's site here and he has lots of close ups/descriptions http://www.beautybymatt.com/Wigs1.html

I'm mixed as well and my own hair is naturally very wavy and fluffy and heavy and I damage mine all the time so I understand. My natural hair is a few inches above my waist and a good 6 inches of it is hair that I really need to just cut off cuz it's visibly damaged but you know how we are with our hair...sometimes it takes a while to let it go.

I don't relax it but I had it silkened before and now it's over highlighted at the front. Lace wigs might not be AS good as a break for your hair as you might think because it's hard to maintain (wash condition and moisturize) your own hair underneath but they're better than continuing to fry your real hair everyday

I just got done looking at wigs by Matt right before I saw your post lol
Those are some nice looking/nice applicated wigs!

I would like to wait until I get enough money to order from mywigsandweaves.com. I heard those were good, and they're not out of my price range in the future.

I hate to bother you with questions but since you seem expirienced with lf's I have some

I would most likely wear mine for up to a week (Maybe more), take it off, wash it, condition, and then reapply. How is sleeping in them? I obviously would wrap it with some kind of silk and I sleep on a silk pillowcase (it's amazing what a difference this makes on any hair!). Also, are there any adhesives that work well for you?

Don't hesitate to ask, I'm happy to help. I'm a wig addict, LOL!

I have used this stuff called "No Tape" and "Mity Tite" before. I use Ultra Hold for durable week long wear. The first time I purchased my own glues to do my own application I got http://www.lfhair.com/xcart/customer...roductid=17994 which is a kit that includes curved tape and glue and everything all in one. Depending on where you are, you can try to find a hair replacement center to do your first few applications for you. Watch closely to really get the hang of it.

Sleeping in them is fine. No different than having a sewn in weave in. Pincurl or wrap it and you'll be fine. If you have a body wave texture or curly, condition it and braid it in one or two big braids and pin the braids up and then tie a satin scarf over your hair. With the constant removal/reapplication please make sure your application is precise or else your hairline will suffer BAD. You're always gonna have 5 or 6 little hairs that don't know their place unless you smooth things down with hairgel prior to applying and I don't recommend that. I'd suggest biweekly or triweekly removing and reapplying and give your hair a day to just be out before you reapply.

I wish I had finished my clinic hours at cosmetology school because I'd SO be selling/applying wigs as a hustle.

Sleeping with a lace wig is such a pain the ass I have a very long hair so it's really annoying the first time. I had my hair braid everytime I decided to put it on. Mine is full lace wig, 100% indian remy hair. Everybody thinks it's my real hair With regards to adhesive, I never use glue because it's really messy since I am very clumsy to begin with. I only use Pro-lex Tape II.

Those wigs are gorgeous and look so natural. I would love to get one myself, but I'm too lazy- having to go into a salon every week to have to have it reapplied. (I know I couldn't do it myself I saw the process in person a while back).

CK- I hate doing my hair. I must be one of 5 women who don't own a curling iron, hairdryer, rollers, etc.

I'm getting some micros, and I'll stick to that. Sitting in a chair for 6 hours straight, but no need to get it redone for 2-3 months.
