Epiphany.
(I know I said no tree but we had to put one up for Erika)

usually the weekend following new years

Yea, after New Years. Usually after all the Holiday excitement has winded down. And before Valentine's Day.
Christmas starts on Christmas Day and ends on Epiphany. Strictly speaking, the tree and all decorations should go up on Christmas, but we always decorate around the first of December. The tree goes up about ten days before Christmas so that it will last until the twelfth day of Christmas--Epiphany.

^ yeah, after new years-before valentine's day
These days I like to count my money. I like to wash it delicately and iron it. Sometimes I dry it with some bounty to make it all nice and cuddly. I love my money... did I say that out loud?
I picked other. We take ours down Jan. 2

When we feel like it. If it starts going brown... out the door it goes.
One more cup of coffee for the road,
One more cup of coffee 'fore I go
To the valley below....
Slowly moseying my way to the exit.
A Blogging?

Epiphany
Gotta give the Three Kings time to show up...
im not quite sure what epiphany is....
I think it should go down on new years.......actually the day after cuz you aren't gonna wanna take it down with a hang over!

I so, put down the tree when I feel like it!

It's Google-licious!![]()
"The term epiphany means "to show" or "to make known" or even "to reveal." In Western churches, it remembers the coming of the wise men bringing gifts to visit the Christ child, who by so doing "reveal" Jesus to the world as Lord and King. In some Central and South American countries influenced by Catholic tradition, Three Kings’ Day, or the night before, is the time for opening Christmas presents. In some eastern churches, Epiphany or the Theophany commemorates Jesus’ baptism, with the visit of the Magi linked to Christmas. In some churches the day is celebrated as Christmas, with Epiphany/Theophany occurring on January 19th..."

I agree with the majority and say after New Year's but before Valentine's Day. It can be a lot of work putting the lights, ornaments, etc. on the tree, so you may as well leave it up for a while.![]()
What is Epihany? >goes to look it up<
It doesnt matter as long as the tree is down by 12th night (Jan 6) leaving it up after that brings bad luck and traditionally was probably looked on as being in bad taste too lol.

Not that I do the tree business as it isn't my cup of tea (nor linked with my spirituality).... yet if I ever had to do so I would take it down after NYE on New Years Day (1st Jan) as I don't see the point in having it up for longer than a fortnight around Christmas time.

Well, it depends. When Makayla was 3 months old, she loved the tree so much that when she would fuss, I put her in her bouncy seat and sat that in front of the tree. She would just watch it forever...enthralled (she actually still does it now...lays under the tree and just zones out). Adrian, however is older and finds things to push up to the three to pull stuff off.
We took the tree down (when it was just Makayla) around March/April. LOL...I just made paper hearts and used that valentines garland to decorate the tree at Valentines Day. heh
This year, though...it'll probably be coming down the day after New Year's.![]()

Garbage day if it's real
Whenever we get around to it. But we only do "real tree" occasionally so there isn't a needle issue.
