    Default I got a job!

Okay so yay for nepotism and all of that, haha. My best friends boyfriend's mom needs a secretary. She works for a contractor for a large refinery company and she needs someone to computer input, filing, phones, etc. The usual secretary business I'm guessing. She said she'd start me at 8.50 an hour and Im going to take night classes at the university thats close to the office. So yay for new things....but I'm kind of nervous. And...excited...but...

The problem is....I don't have any like...nice/casual clothes. I have bumming around clothes and hot/go out clothes....yanno...nothing officey. I have one pair of like....casual dress pants but they have a hole in the crotch which I guess is repairable. I don't have any like plain button up shirts or anything and my shoes are all stripper heels or flip flops. I don't want to look stupid. I've never worked in an office though.

Help me guys. What do you wear and wear do you get it for not a million dollars?
    Cause I have like...20.

Try Ann Taylor loft. They have nice conservative clothes and sweaters are like $40. You could also try consignment stores. If you have time, it is worth it. Or...you can raid my closet and wear couture. I can't fit into any of my size 2s anymore but the clothes are so beautiful I hate to throw them out.

I love Ann Taylor, is not expensive and the material is not a cheap looking farbic. Yet if you can go into twister closet. I will recommend doing so! I think also the key is to wear cloths that fit your body type, and to dress classy.

Yeah, at least for a while while I get my brain back together and my eating habits healthy again and stuff. Tell Randy he should have never told me I was gaining weight. (Just kidding...) But yeah I get to have a normal hours job for a bit while I pull some things together and get back on the right track.

Thanks for the tips guys. And I'm going to go raid your closet too! I wear a 2 now so I'm on my way to the closet raiding.

    Good for you! *hugs*

For cheap office clothes, the first thing that pops in my mind is second hand/thrift stores. You'd be really surprised what you can find there. Kohl's is really good too. They're always having sales that are so good sometimes I wonder how they stay in business!

P.S. If it makes you feel any better, Randy doesn't work there anymore...

    Congrats, babydoll!!!

Hit the after Xmas sales...JCPenney's, Macy's, etc...Might not be the most attractive clothes ever to begin with, but they'll work until you get a couple of paychecks.

The Limited is having a 50% off sale right now. If you sign up for their email list, you get an instant 20% off coupon. Old Navy also has a small selection of business casual stuff that is inexpensive. There's always little camisoles and cardigans in their clearance area as well. I believe Express is also having a big sale. Macy's, Marshalls, and TJMaxx are also good places to find work clothes that are good quality but inexpensive.

Express is good for office clothes, I like how their button-up shirts aren't boxy.

    seriously, jesus H.

I am fortunate to have a "Crossroads" snobby thrift store where I live, I get Bebe stuff and Betsey Johnson stuff for $8-$20. There's a few in Cali now, they are great.

thrift stores all the way! That's where my girl friend goes and she's "personal assistant", also check out ebay once you get an idea of what you are looking for and the size you think will fit you best for work (I don't think it always matches the going out hottie sizes) Ebay rocks for cheap stuff and check with some of the buyers for quick shipping!

Well if you're really that broke, then go to T J Maxx or Marshall's. The clothes are just fine for an office environment / business casual.

I'm all for TJMaxx and Marshalls. However, there is a non-profit org that gets women professional clothes for transitioning into the workforce. I forgot what its called, but they can get you something nice to wear. They help out a lot of battered women and women who have gone through trauma. You definately have had a hard time. Look it up.

I think in every city there are some great thrift stores with nice stuff. Yelp.com usually has reviews of places that you can find such goods. I also 2nd TJmaxx.
