The online phone number-netzero? They made that a paid thing I think. Otherwise was it a pre-pay tracphone?
Wow-50k of stock? Maybe I need to get over my hatred of regs again and cultivate some. So much trouble, so little return (usually).
PRIVATEPHONE SERVICE
WILL BE ENDING ON DECEMBER 31, 2007
For more information on service termination including contacting support,
well...it was

^ oh poo. i have one and i guess im SOL then.
Love it!
Just buy any kind of prepaid phone and buy it with cash. It can be traced if you buy it with a credit card.
*I only know this because I was receiving obscene phone calls with somebody, and my ex's friend who is a private detective was able to track down who it was because they bought the thing at a tmobile with their credit card. It turned out to be somebody I never met, and we called the cops and filed a report on two seperate occassions and they didn't do anything about it*
Oh! Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting about the privatephone service termination. I've been using the service, but had not logged on to the site in a while and I had no idea.
So I researched prepaid cell phone plans as an alternative and figured that the best one for me is the t-mobile prepaid plan. If you get a $100 card (1000 minutes) you get gold rewards status which means that your minutes won't expire for an entire year. I don't plan on making many long calls - just short ones and text messages to keep in touch with regulars - so that should last me the whole year for a cost of $8.33 a month.
BTW, Target currently has a deal (though it ends today) that if you buy a t-mobile $100 card you get a Nokia 2610 phone for free (or, apparently, if you have a phone already you can return the phone and get refunded 28.57 leaving you with the $100 card for $71.42 - http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=698329 ). I got mine there yesterday (and I made sure to pay in cash - thanks VegasPrincess) and so far so good

thanks for the info everyone! I've been debating the phone thing too. I used to just give people my email and this used to be good enough. Now it seems there are a rash of girls in my club giving out numbers and I'm feeling the pressure to compete. I typically only call people on a need to basis and when I do I block my number, but because of the changes at work I've been getting more pressure from guys and more questions about a number and why mine is blocked.
i just hate giving in and feeling like they have contact with me outsie the club - even if it is just a work number![]()

having a work number can be very helpful
T-mobile is good, although we need to show some form of identification and have the card in the phone registered to us officially: there is no cash and thanks for the business here!
For us the cash that is written up on the cards - be it 1000 minutes or whatever - remains forever, it doesn't expire at all, and we either get a free phone with our card, or pay a minimum fee of one Euro.
Even with the registration, I have one phone for regular use which a couple of people know about, and one for private use which no one knows about; you never know when it's going to come in handy.
