Calling All Hair Experts! I Want Giselle Hair!!!

Seriously. My hair is extremely long like this (almost thigh-length) with very long layers. I normally wear it very straight at work or semi/soft wavy... but how do I get these kind of waves/curls? I've always wanted my hair to look like this, and wonder how she gets it! What tools/techniques do I need to finally have it, and keep it in place???

I don't have any suggestions, but I'm also curious! Hopefully we'll get some good replies. I loooove Giselle's hair. So perfect.

    Preparation and Styling:

    1. Shampoo and condition your hair with products formulated for your hair texture. These will most likely be body building products, however, if you have hair that gets full very easily or gets frizzy, you may want to use moisturizing or smoothing products.
    2. After towel blotting your hair, apply firm hold styling foam or styling glaze. Work it through the entire length of your hair from the root to the ends.
    3. Blow your long hair dry creating as much body as possible. Try turning your head upside down and directing the airflow toward the root area of your hair first.
When that is dry, blow dry the rest of your hair, still upside down if you can stand it.
Flip your hair back right side up and continue drying it until it is thoroughly dry.
    4. Set your hair on hot rollers. Use the largest rollers on top. One row through the center and another row or two down. Below that, use medium sized hot rollers.
Wait until the rollers are completely cool, then carefully remove the rollers.
    5. You may need a little back-combing to maintain the fullness on top. Spray the back-combing with light hold hair spray before smoothing it. Smooth the top, over the back-combing, using a vent brush. Since the teeth of the vent brush are far apart, it is less likely to take the fullness out of your hair.
    6. Comb the rest of your hair using only your fingers. Use a curling iron – about one inch in circumference) to create smaller curls in the ends of your hair. Separate strands that are about the size of your thumb. Curl each strand in a spiral fashion using the one inch curling iron. Continue until all of your hair is curled. You may comb through each curl separately to neaten it. Then form it back into the curl. Do not comb through your hair style as a whole.

loosley tonging it with a pair of wide barrel tongs will also give the same effect.

I watched the VS show this year and I realized that her style is the same as all the other girls (in the show, anyways). I think it's part of the Victoria's Secret 'look'. Hot chick, rockin' body, beautiful face, long straight hair with huge loose curls at the bottom. So hot.

I've always created that with a large barrel curling iron (at least 2.5") and Redken's Hot Sets... If you don't use a curl setting product, you'll go limp in a couple of hours. Just lightly mist large sections and curl, it's pretty easy.

To get looser waves like in the runway photo, I prefer to do ribbon curls with a flat iron. These teenage girls on youtube actually have the best technique out of the clips I searched

You really don't need to wrap the hair around the iron at all, just clamping down and turning your wrist will do. Remember, the larger the section your curling, the more slowly you need to slide the flat iron down your hair.

I've posted instructions for VS hair somewhere on this board, search for my post in Kaylinn's "aww crap my hair" thread. I really should put a link in my signature at this point!! I love this look, especially for work.

Her hair is really gorgeous! I got a ceramic curling iron for xmas but I can't seem to get it to look good. I guess it takes some practice.

Hmmm, maybe a larger diameter marcel iron or maybe some large rollers. Maybe both , that's what I would try anyway.

Believe it or not, I do not own a hair straightener. I'm half asian, so I have never had the need for one. Anyone have any suggestions on a good quality, affordable straightener to make those luscious waves?

I'd say a huge curling iron - the kind with the 3" barrell - would be your best bet. Start the curl in different places and don't curl it all the way to the top, then run your fingers through it when it cools.

I'm more interested in how she got that length. Are those extensions or is that hers? I used to have hella-long hair like that and I want it back, dammit!! I've only got bra strap length and it isn't enough, I want to sit on it again!

I like my CHI, but I have tried, numerous times, to do the curls with it, and I just can't do it. If you can try it first with a friends, I'd suggest it, cuz it would suck to shell out the cash and be hair-tool retarded like me lol.

^^My hair stylist can too, but no matter how hard I try, I can't. I'm stylistically challenged lol.

When I had extensions, I curled them like LR said. Take a curling iron, start a few inches from the top and curl in, leaving the ends out, and keep moving down til you get a few inches from the bottom, leavign the ends out. Then comb through with yrou fingers to loosen the curls. Spray lightly with a good hairspray. Here's how it looked when I did it...
The best part of this style is that it still feels nice and soft, not sprayed stiff...and it still looked good the next day if I combed through it. Mine were a little curlier than VS hair....I never was able to get them looser and still look right, but this is close..

Thats because you used a curling iron. Hers look like flat iron curls... and you had a lot more hair than her because of the extensions.... your hair was thicker.

For a flat iron, I HIGHLY reccomend the Ergo Prosleeker... I even posted a review on Folica.com However, most people really wouldn't consider it affordable.

Sedu and GHD are really popular, too. You want to look for a ceramic and/or tourmaline plates and adjustable heat settings... I prefer digital control so I know exactly what temp I'm using it at. I know a lot of people like CHI; personally, I just don't think thier product lives up to the hype.
