Default My esophageal sphincter is broken

    *WARNING...THIS IS PROBABLY A TMI*

I could deal with the heartburn and acid reflux but now I've got a whole new problem. It seems that I can't drink anything without spitting it back up again. I drank a glass of water this afternoon (slowly...I wasn't being a piggy animal about it) and promply vomited it back up right away. It was totally clear and everything...like, there was no food or stomach acid or whatever in it. It just kinda, spewed back up instantly. I didn't think a lot of it the first time, but it's happened twice more tonight. It's literally everything I drink. I don't feel nauseous, I didn't cough or gag or do anything to trigger my gag reflex, food stays down no problem....it's just liquid. WTF? It's like water running from the faucet, except moving in the opposite direction.

Is this a serious problem or is it just from the baby pushing against my insides and relaxing the sphincter? I really don't want to go to the doctor about it since I actually feel fine, but jeez. I'm really paranoid now. I get zero warning when it happens, it just....happens. It's uncontrollable.

Hmmm, I have never heard of that. But I would mention it to the doc since you want to stay hydrated.

Well your baby and you need nutrients. Water included. I guess it couldn't hurt to call your doc. I haven't been preggers so I wouldn't have any other advice.

But yay your baby is almost here!

You absolutely need to call your doctor.

Dehydration is a dangerous thing to play around with--especially when you're with baby, hon.

Ugh. I called the women's hospital and talked to an OB-GYN and she said to keep trying to drink for tonight since the baby is probably just sitting in a weird way and pushing the sphincter open slightly. If I wake up tomorrow morning and its the same deal I have to go to the doctor.

I'm going to try some yoga positions and see if I can get her to change positions. I'm freakin' thirsty.

I will be so damn happy to give birth I'm going to do a backflip. I've had enough of these weird body issues.

I think it's okay now. My body still doesn't like cold liquid very much but it accepted a cup of hot tea.

Oh well. If the constant cramping is any indication, I get the feeling baby will be coming along shortly so I'll just suck it up.

    Woohoo! Baby's almost here, yay!!!!

I think the yoga is a good idea. As for dehydration, maybe chunky soup or charro beans will stay down, even apples/oranges. Hopefully it will get fixed soon.
