    Default Thin, Brittle, Breaking Hair

I have really fine hair. And I have dyed it alot in the past. Now it's also the longest its been in years...so it gets evil tangels which of course leads to my hair breaking off all the time.
Any good conditioners or treatments anybody can recommend to help my poor hair out?

    ^Those are all great ones.

To help stop damage, why not try getting some jojoba oil, or coconut oil, and, every time you get out of the shower, put it on your hair - one or two drops rubbed between your palms, then smooth it on from the earlobes down. It'll feed your hair and lock in moisture, plus give it a little protection.

I have thin hair, which I had bleached the hell out of for years. Even though I have let my hair go back to its natural color, I stilll find that my hair breaks easily. I use Redken All Soft shampoo and conditioner and swear by it. Also, use a good detangler after you towel dry - I use Redken Smooth Out (a little goes a long way with this product). This grosses me out, but try to shampoo every other day. And MOST importantly, get a solid trim every 6-8 weeks.

Use Apohgee's protein treatment. It works super well and my hair is VERY damaged, almost stops my breakage.
It's a little on the pricey side, but if you have a Sally's Beauty they sell them in smaller 3 dollar tester packet thingies. Make sure you read the directions and do just as it says! The stuff rebuilds your hair structure for up to six weeks depending on how often you shampoo it.

Oh yeah make sure you condition after a protein treatment, they can be drying, so the key is heavy duty conditioner left in under heat for 15-20 minutes!

^Protein treatments are drying? I figured all treatments would be moisturizing...

Protein can dry your hair - it unbalances some of the molecules in extremely damaged hair.

No, it doesn't make it greasy - just one or two drops, more if you have longer. It should put a barely noticeable sheen on it.

That way, if you wear it down, it has more "slip" to not get caught in things and be broken, and also to protect it against friction - your hands, clothes, back of the seat in your car, etc, etc.

Since my hair is thick and growing again (about damn time) i am back to No More Tangles by Johnson & Johnson...i LOVE it.

It was mentioned in another thread. I use it when my hair is wet or dry. Works well for tangles and smells good.

PS use a very wide tooth comb when going through wet hair start from the ends and comb up.

You sound like you have same problem I use to have. I started using Y serum by Nexxus and it totally restored my hair. The Y stands for youth and it claims to take you hair back to it's youth but I doubt it actually does that. But it certainly helped the condition of it. They no longer sell Nexxus in salons. Some department stores and drug stores carry Nexxus products but not the Y serum you have to order it online. I am pretty sure this is the set that includes all of it (shampoo, conditioner, treatment) in 5 ounce bottles. It's a little bigger than a trail size but at least you can get a feel for it and see how you like it.

Also you might want to invest in some Biotin or "Hair" vitamins. Of course cut back on the heat styling and see if you can get by with washing your hair every other day or three times weekly so your hair can absorb your natural oils.

Greenid., THANK you for posting that! I've been LOOKING for that Y stuff!.
Anyway, I use Ellin Lavar Reconstruct Masque, & it's not too expensive. CVS drug carries it, Ulta use to, but I think they discontinued it. She has other stuff too, oil, etc. I also use a few drops of avacado oil (natural vit. e) on my ends only, & maybe a couple inches up from them. I use Pantene spray for detangling, I use to use the Johnson's, & I may go back to that. I also keep some cream leave in conditioner in my hair. Good luck.

    It's better...not perfect...but a lot better

yeah I've started using my hair colestorol again. I forgot I had it. I'll have to look for some of these products.
I remember Burts Bees Avacado butter condiditoner (i thinks thats what it was called, avacado something) worked really well for me but I can never find it anywhere.

It sucks because unless I straighten or blowdry my hair it looks like poo...which I can deal with on a day off but for work I don't really want to look like poo.

I have really thin hair too and it was falling out like crazy for a long time, so I took a vitamin with Biotin and MSM in it and so far I think it's helping. Also, try to only shampoo every other day at the most...don't know of any really good leave in conditioners though...still looking for something like that myself.

You need protein to stop breakage, then a good moisturizer afterward. Aphogee is the best protein treatment on the market (before someone argues, it has the most protein, compare labels), but you will def need a deep condish to restore moisture afterward. Joico K-Pac is great for protein as well and is conditioning. You can check the makeupalley hair board, but I believe the top protein treats are 1-Aphogee 2-Redken CAT 3-K-PAC 4-Deep Fuel.
Oh, and HUGE 2nd on the OJON! It's fantastic!
