Default do NOT TELL me how to do my job, thank you very much.

So, for the past 3-4 years i've been working in this industry (still so new at this, I am aware) I have had multiple problems with catty dancers telling me how to do my job. and I am sick of it! the other night I just smiled at the girl said "Thanks" and walked away.

example 1. I am doing a set on stage, I do some flip where my legs go over my head, I don't know, something dumb. A dancer comes up to me while i am dancing whispers in my ear maliciously, "thats NOT how you do it" - I turn to her and my face is just like? are you kidding me? turns out she's insane and gets in my face so I step aside- she pretends to fall off stage and starts screaming at the manager to fire me. ummm...okk...

example 2. now this happened a few days ago. I am Just a waitress now but a club I have been working at for 2 years- a dancer comes up and says- "I've been working in this industry for EVERRRR now and I just wanted to tell you what to do. If you see a dancer with a customer, go up to them and ask them if they're all set- you'll get more tips that way. you see? you'll get more tips"

ahhhhhh.... /vent. and thank you for listening.
I don't tell you how to do your job, so DONT tell me how to do mine.

anybody else have stories like this?

No. And thank god. I don't know how you contained yourself. I never had a situation with other dancers when working, i don't know what i would have done.

Hmmm knowing me laughed real loud in her face until i turned red and people looked! Stupid bitch.

i haven't had any experiences like that yet, thank goodness, though i have had other dancers give me suggestions, but they were all very sweet and helpful about it.

i think it's worse when CUSTOMERS tell you how to do your job. that has happened before in my experience and i find it insulting.

mina loy ... I am with you on that one! It's one thing for fellow staff to tell you how to do your job ... yet it is HIGHLY insulting when a patron or customer tells you.

how about when u r trying to hustle a customer and he says no thanks but then tries to spot a customer for you to approach? that pisses me off and has happened a few times.

Some of the most effortlessly beautiful, kind, intelligent, successful, motivated, driven and ridiculously hilarious women that I have ever met have been dancers. I've met the best friends that I've ever had in this industry.

But, how about when the dancer says "OK, pick somebody for me" and then comes back a few weeks later and says "Pick me another one; that last guy you picked gave me $100." Is it OK then?
"He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"

I wish! I think jai was speaking in a way that they try to "pass the buck" as such. I've had that happen to me... it's irritating. I don't ask for them to pick somebody for me... they do it of their own accord.

If I did ask, then naturally I would be open to the suggestion. I wouldn't ask otherwise...

To me, whether you're a waitress or a dancer, you're a hustler... and everyone hustles differently. It's not okay to tell someone they're doing it wrong. What works for one might not work for another. That dancer was on an ego trip. If she was really worried about you making money, she would have gotten her customer to tip you.

I would never tell a cocktail waitress how to do her job. I'm always polite, say thank you, and try to get her more money if I can.

LOL! That's alright, most businesses don't like listening to their customers either.

Like strip club managers. "Biatch pay me my monies and get your complaining ass and 'ideas' out of my office."
