    Default Colposcopy Question

This is for the ladies who have had a colposcopy done or know a bit about it...

About 2, maybe 3 weeks ago I had a colposcopy done. They used that paste that stops bleeding. I remember the paste had a funky odor to it, and therefore so did the discharge from the paste.

    My issue is this...

2 or 3 weeks later my URINE STILL has that odor whenever I urinate.
**edited to add: I am really wierded out that it's my urine that has this odor now. There is no more discharge. (I know it's the urine, as I can only detect the odor when I actually urinate..)

Now, I'm assuming this has to due with the colposcopy and thought it would go away, but it hasn't.

To make things worse I had just started a medication for treatment of my hyperthyroidism on the same day I had the colposcopy, so I don't know if it was the procedure or if it's the medication that is causing the odor now.

Ladies who have had a colposcopy, did you notice that strange smell I'm referring to?

Nope... but I also found out later they did mine wrong. They didn't stop my bleeding with anything. They didn't even anaesthetize me. They just cut me and said, "You can't feel that because there's no nerve endings there!" when I complained.

Hmmm they didn't anesthetize me either, but I was told they weren't supposed to.

Mine didn't really hurt much, it was just mildly uncomfortable...it's true that there aren't nerve endings on parts of the cervix, but as you near the inner part it does have nerve endings so if they take a piece from around there you'd definately feel it.

I'm really worried about this whole damn odor thing. As I said, I THINK it's from the paste they used because that shit stank...but I don't know for sure since I've also started new medication.

My other concern is a kidney infection....I had kidney stones last month

i don't remember any odor at all but i also don't think they put any paste on me?

but i don't know, my guess would be it's from the hypothyroidism medication; because weeks later that paste should not be affecting your pee; i don't think.

call your doc, to be sure

No paste for me...and no being put asleep either. They made me watch it on a screen..."Look honey! It's your baby-hole!", and I was all "I. Don't. Want. TO LOOK". Also, ow.

I would call the doctor...that's a long while later.

I was the opposite, and telling the ladies that I wish I could see what they were looking at!!

To the OP: No, I did not notice an odor at all, just some discharge for a day or so. Call your doc. It sounds like it's probably the meds you're on.

I didn't have the odor afterwards, and I had the paste stuff (yellow discharge is FUN!) Gah. I would call your Dr., it's possible you could have gotten a bladder infection or something, or your other meds are causing the smell. Good luck.
