I've heard of this, but have yet to try it.
I use cold cream, so it's something along those lines, but not quite.
Ohhh...I can't wait to try this. Thanks for the link!

Thanks! My skin looks so much better since I've been using pure oil as a moisturizer. I will be giving this a try!

I bought some castor oil this morning but haven't tried the method yet. I'll mix up my concoction later this evening at which point the Pond's cold cream will join the other rejects below my bathroom sink. haha

I have been using the oil cleansing method. After teh first time, my skin looked prettier and firmer. It puffed up the surface of my skin a little, so my acne scars are much less noticeable..

^^^You're back!
I'm dying to try this once my hormones are back to normal. My skin is just way too touchy right now to start messing with.

I'm back. Yeah.I just have a butt-load of stuff going on in my life right now, so I git a little side tracked. But seriously, try the oil cleaning thing. I am getting in the habit of doing it every time I work, to get off the makeup and smoke and so on. It's good.

I sometimes use oil to moisturize my face...But it seems to "feed" breakouts when I have them! Bleh!
Now I'm all about ingesting the oil.

I've been addicted to the castor oil since this thread started. I love it and can tell the difference when I don't use it. Now I think I use it every other day or so. I have a lot going on with my face though thanks to this site.
castor oil ... retin a ... now I'm going to try that cheap hydroquinone product someone just recommended. I want my scars gone yesterday at this point. No more zits ... even geting 1 is rare at this point YAY!But I'm still working on the scars.
I'm not sure if it's the castor oil, retin a or the 2% hydroquinone that's been doing the job but so far so very very good! My scars have been fading a lot but I still want to try the 4% strength to make it quicker.
hOld that thought, the "cheap" hydroquinone requires $15 shipping. Forget that.

I plan on trying this method very soon!

My experience with the oil cleansing method:
I have been using a blend of castor oil and olive oil. Started with 50-50, now on 75 olive oil, 25 castor oil.
It has dried my face out a lot. I have tons of dry patches that are nasty.
I used it 2-3 times a week, so that may have been to much.
It made my skin feel smooth, helped with blackheads a small bit, but not much. I started my period and had the usual breakout, and this didn't help with that at all.
The biggestdraw back to the oil cleansing method for me was I have a stye in my eye now. I forgot that I cannot use oil based cleansers on ym eyes, they plug my glands and always cause styes. I can't even use oil based eye makeup remover.
So...after 2 weeks using this method..I'm not impressed enough to keep going with it. Maybe for a once every 2 weeks thing, avoiding the eye area...

I do the oil cleansing method with pure coconut oil and moisturise with wheatgerm (pure e). I used to have terrible acne, now not only are my pores less visible, blackheads all but gone, lines less noticable, softer skin, and more even tone, but pimples are rare, all hail the oil I say.

cold pressed virgin coconut oil is the best for breakouts.
dries it out, and then after you use it for awhile, your skin balances.

^That's exactly what happened, it was dry for a few weeks and now it's nice and soft :-)

Scarlett, what is your formulation for the OCM with coconut oil? Do you also use castor and olive? Just wondering. Thanks!

I'm trying it as well. No miraculous results yet, but I'm hangin on. I have had to add baking soda to my oil mix though, for a bit of exfoliating action. Otherwise i'll just have lumps of dead skin all over my face. ew.

^Just plain coconut, nothing else. It's hard to mix because it's solid but i never tried and it works fine on it's own for me.

Oooh. I think my hormones have settled enough to finally give this a go. Finally, a use for the rest of my castor oil.
\

Uh, maybe I missed it, but how often should I do this? Is once a week a good start?
\

I do it everyday

<A good bump>
I'm on the kick too. I heard about this a few months ago, but just recenlty decided to go ahead and buy everything.
I am using EVOO (extra-virgin Olive Oil) and Castor oil. Last night was my first time doing it. I steamed my face w/ my washcloth 2x before I began to wipe away. Steamed again and wiped away. This morning my skin feels heavenly. I too have oily skin.
I am visiting the Mom's currently, so I let her feel my face when I was done. She LOVED it. She let me do the OCM on her. My baby brother (16), (with his nosey self) wanted in on it too...so yea, the whole family got a facial last night. We were all happy

A bit of a sidenote - castor oil is AWESOME for your hair!!! Even better than olive oil. It's made my hair sooo shiny and soft.

Update: I've been using it for about 20 days now. I had a shocking experience about 2 weeks ago. It broke my cheeks out. I was so sad and depressed. I looked online and this seems to be the norm. It's called purging of the skin. Now, my skin is looking flawless. The breakouts are slim to none and I love how clean and clear my pores are, especially in my t-zone (I have oily skin)

Does anyone know if it would be okay to put Coconut oil around and under the eyes? I'm kinda afraid it will cause Melia (those tiny white bumps under the skin.)
