    Default itchy buttcrack

So I shave my pubic area regularly, but only shave my butt crack area sometimes.I havn't done it in a while until 2 days ago.Now my butt crack is itchy with really small bumps.I usually get itchy from the irritation, and I just ignore it.I dont put anything on it, and it goes away in a few days. But i cant take it this time.I have been using a toner with witch hazel in it, but im not sure if that's safe or even helping. If anything I think its causing the bumps.Should I just use regular witch Hazel or anything else? I need help for my itchy buttcrack!

    You SHAVE there?!
Ok, well, I think the witch haze would be a little irritating, since it has alcohol. Try some non-alcohol containing aloe.

I would suggest using a clean, new, and seperate razor for shaving that area. Also, make sure to clean it well and regularly. Astringents should be perfectly safe. You may want to try some neosporin, depending on the severity of the bumps. Lots of bacteria and bad stuff back there.

I'd take an Aveeno Oatmeal bath. You can purchase the Aveeno where the soap is and what not at the drug/department store. It's good for soothing irritations and dermatitis. Also it wouldn't be a bad idea to get some of the Aveeno shaving gel to prevent future irritation. Be sure to use a clean razor or new blade each time you shave. I use men's razors as I feel they give me a closer shave with less irritation.

Tea Tree oil is also a good idea. I second using Neosporin, I had a rash on butt once and used it, it cleared right up.

Try anal-eze. Seriously. It works great to numb up any skin area before a waxing or tweezing, too.

I use the same ting. Its for nappy rash but its amazing on things like shaving rash, I use it for everything, from a spotty chin to chapped nipples.

bikini zone! I use it for razor bumps before they appear and it works like a dream.
As for shaving, next time use nair bikini area for sensitive skin, no razor bumps and if you apply the bikini zone once and then just lotion later, no problems.

I can stress enough what the girls said about a clean and new razor every time when shaving that area. That part of your body stays warm and moist pretty much the entire day. And is close to...well....you get the picture. It's a great spot to get an infection if you don't take care.

just wanted to say that the suggestion on a new razor is great advice for all things shaving related. Ever since I started doing that all irritation has disapeared for me. I'm super sensitive and used to get razor burn and bumps alot and even then I was changing razors every third shave. Now that I use a new one everytime I'm so much more comfortable. I do cheat a bit if all I am shaving is my legs. But for bikini and underarms a new one is the key for me to being soft and smooth.

First off, tee hee at the thread title. This site rocks.

If I did that area, I would shave the night before or really early in the day and do the deodorant trick all over the whole area. I found it worked just as well for the crack-area as it does for the front.

I did, of course, have a whole separate deodorant for this purpose.

Ahhh, the deodorant trick. Let me tell you how confused and grossed out and disbelieving my husbands face was when I explained why I had two sticks of deodorant in the cart.

    Hehehehe.

For serious. Nothing works better at preventing razor burn and ingrowns like applying plain old stick deodorant immediately after shaving. Let it soak in and dry for a couple of hours or overnight, shower off, good to go. No ingrowns/razor bumps. Guaranteed.
