ya know even i have remained point free in all my years here. I think it's more bad ass to post right on the line and remain point free then fall prey to peer pressure and get points.
damn 3 years already, i havent stayed anywhere this long!

I have no points either, much to my shock.
Mad, naaa you are a pretty good guy. But, if it would make you feel better I can give you some. I mean, if it is important to you. But there is a modest charge of $50 per point for unearned infractions. After all, we have to exclude the riff raff from the process.
I take Mastercard and Visa. No American Express or Discover card. AMEX fees are too high, and Discover is, well, too plebian. I mean, Sears used to own it.

Once again I have embraced my addiction and have put off the moral dilemma to another day.
I want to be a mod so I can point people!!(actually I want to be a mod because I"m bored and power hungry...but pointing would be fun too)
I think I got points once when I first started for something really stupid - I posted in the wrong section or something. I get yelled in a PM about it the minute I walked in here! LOL I dont' remember who it was though.
Trust me. We have rules to go by, (our Mod. rule book, how cute) you don't want to point people, you will make enemies. And that is sad, because it's a job we do here that people know needs to be done by us. It's nothing personal when you have to point a person. I wish people would understand that part of SW.
Yup, it's like being a referee. Unless you're Joey Crawford.
I dunno. I point obvious trolls. Like someone with two posts who writes about bear fucking or has 10 posts all saying "Strippers all have cunts like dried up roast beef." I also point legitimate members if they do something pretty egregious; stalking, outing, invading privacy - you know. Something pretty malevolent with malicious intent. For run of the mill board stuff with the participating membership I generally find a warning is sufficient. I mean - I don't want to ban someone active because they lost it twice in two months and posted something they shouldn't have when an apology and a deletion will work just as well. If I'm disobeying the mod rulebook - well, let it roll.

^ that would be nice if more mods were like that. maybe i'll get in trouble for saying this, but i've been pointed and not gotten a warning first. i don't think that's fair.
Okay... to be clear. I was not impugning any other mod. We do things in slightly different ways, but it is very, very rare that points are given out that aren't "deserved". It is situationally specific, and if there are any "bad effects" when a mistake is mad, they will generally try to rectify. I'm not giving you in trouble Britt, but I don't think you were treated unfairly either.
Come to think of it; when other mods give out points it is open to all the other mods to monitor and critique. When I give out informal warnings, it is much more "private" - that is other people can't see what I'm doing. So there are upsides and downsides.

Can mods point other mods? I've always wondered that...

At times it's a judgement call, it has to be. And yes we make mistakes. I have made my share. I don't like pointing people. But it's there for a reason, and at times we don't (well i speak for me) give a warning when we all should read the very first post of each forum before posting.
I have pointed many and, found they don't read the forum rules first.![]()

I got warnings and temp banned all at once so in essence I never really got a warning! LOL...
But I would never hold a grudge against a mod for doing their job - thats just stupid.

I seriously tried to point myself once, didn't work...
Maybe a mod can point another mod, though. Like a cop can pull over another cop and give him a ticket, lol. To my knowledge it hasn't happened yet.

If I was a mod, I would totally ask you to point me right now, just to see if it can be done.
I'm an admin on another forum but I don't think we have points and stuff like that. I think we just email warnings and then ban if you don't smarten up.
Ah, the mysteries of SW.

On the extremely rare event that I get annoyed by someone elses post, I generally don't bother to reply. Leaves the other person with the sound of one hand clapping.
But what's the point in getting angry with anyone on here anyway:
(a) It's extremely unlikely we're going to meet in person
and
(b) Life's too short to waste on getting uptight in cyberspace.
Phil.
wow.you got pointed for that???
The whole points system seems really unfair then since the person who called me a stuck up bitch when I first started posting here has openly admited they have never recieved any points.
Guess it's more about who is friends with who than anything else. Alot like real life though I suppose![]()
A mod can't point another mod. Since there are only a few of us it is assumed that we can work out whatever the problem is.

^ I would also assume that if a mod did somethign point worthy, they wouldn't remain a mod for very long.

^ not necessarily. pryce hasnt been around, so how would that happen?
