Some photos from my trip to Ayer's Rock... why not?
I like this photo; it's my camel's eye.
These are ANT HILLS in the Outback!
I paid two thousand dollars to see this?
Fabulous sunset though.

More sunset.
These are all the ant wings outside the door of my hotel.
Sunset through the trees - surprisingly hard picture to take on a camel's back.
My camel driver looked and SOUNDED soooooo fricken Outback. He said Fair dinkum!
And here's a rock that looks like Homer Simpson.

WOW, just beautiful!!!
I am so going there this year, (its 2nd on my list.) I cant wait! Was that a camel trek tour, I love camels?!
Err the ant wings though - I hope the flying ant season is over by the time I get there, thats hideous! We used to get them for a month each summer on England and that was bad enough!
How long did you go for? Did you find plenty to do? I hear that one day or two days max is more than enough but you cant book to stay for less than at least 2 days anywhere.

It was a sunset camel tour; all those photos were taken on a rocking freakin camel!
There were SO MANY flying ants; it was gross. I posted other photos in another thread about them.
Definitely two days was just right. MIGHT do three if I wanted to relax AND get some tourtime in. Two days for pure tourtime. I found enough to do - but I spent a few hours in my room reading trash mags and only went on one tour.
I recommend the helicopter tour though. 30 minutes for $250 as apposed to $200 for two people to have a 2 hour camel tour. Or do both; it just seemed I really should've taken that damn helicopter for the fifty bucks more.

Uluru is it's modern day name Lysondra![]()
Ayer's Rock is just so European, y'know?
hehehe
Anyway, I'm tossing up between going to New Zealand for the first time in my life for a couple of nights versus doing a 3-4 day/night tour that leaves Darwin covers Litchfield National Park, Kakadu and maybe Uluru.... one with lots of camping involved.
Thanks for sharing![]()

Fuck your camera pisses all over my current one! (Actually i just gave it to Tom 2 days ago when his broke, so I have a good excuse to buy me a new one, lol) But yeah, its very dissapointing when you know your shots could be better.
Btw - Ayers Rock Uluru, both are acceptable to use. Edited to add - Im pretty sure anyway.
Although I cant find any referances to it now, years ago I remember the issue that in Aboriginal culture they dont utter the name of the dead and because Uluru was a person, some dont wish the name to be used. I wish i could find an online referance though, so few other people seem to know about it Im beginning to think I imagined the whole thing!

I think I must be going crazy or over tired. When I initially saw that first photo I didn't read the camel bit and was staring at it for like 10 seconds before I realised it wasn't a human eye. Haha. I was thinking, mmm maybe somebody needs a brow wax.
I can't believe those ant wings! That is insane.
Great photos though. I'd love to do a road trip up there and see it.
god damn I want to go to Australia. Not only before I die, but while I'm still young enough to enjoy shit like this
jealous..

Oooh, pretty. Camels are pretty, too. Everything in Australia just seems so...big.
Did you wear heels on a camel?

You so missed the emoticons didn't you?Didn't you see my
??? I was totally joking with you as I knew what you were doing... hahaha.
As for it being cheap, yeah, however Litchfield and Kakadu are high on my list thanks to being to Darwin so so many times. Besides, Uluru is just a rock in the end...
I really have to try to plan to go next year (as it won't happen like I planned this year) during the wet as then it is more cheaper (as the wet is, naturally, the low season for tourism up there).
