I think Pinky is done for? I was starting to use it the other day and it kinda stung my girly bits. Don't worry it was clean. I've never had a reaction like that before. It totally killed my mood.
Or maybe I have a silicone allergy?

That's possible - silicone is kinda porous, though, and hard to get clean. So maybe it wasn't totally clean? Did you use a new brand of lube?
If you decide to replace your toy, though, you should read this article:
There's lots of evidence to back up it's claims, and it's something to think about.

No, lube that time.
I was thinking of buying a new one and was considering a glass one anyways. The article was scary...I don't want damage to my reproductive organs.

Yeah, that was my line of thinking. Turns out the stuff they're made of is FORBIDDEN to be put into you by the FDA and that's why they have to be sold as "novelties" instead of as sex toys.
If I may make a reccomendation, NJOY toys are GREAT, and they are non porous so you can be sure they are 100 percent clean. Also, you can warm them or cool them. So it works out.
OMG thats kinda scary! I thought they were called novelties because it sounded more polite than sex toy or something.
^^Ditto. I did too. If I weren't so active in my local fetish community/worldwide online fetish community I wouldn't have ever known. That's what scares me the most.
WHAT?! I thought that too! They're okay on the OUTSIDE (like, the clit), right???
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.
Apparently the lining on the outside breaks down over time. How much, no one can say - some say a week, some say it takes a year. But after it does, you're pretty much applying a toxic chemical to a mucous membrane - so even if it takes a little longer, I'm sure it's still getting into you. I ditched all mine just to be safe.

Well I'm throwing it out. I've had it for 5 years. *shame*

Well now you have an excuse to upgrade! NJOY rocks my little pink socks. Some of the sex shops have purty glass ones too. You can play with yourself and feel all arty at the same time. ROFL
So if the toy's material is possibly hazardous, would it work to put a condom over it or something? So you're not actually coming into contact with the toy's surface itself? Or would it still be potentially harmful?
^^Depends on if the stuff leaking out of it will penetrate latex or sheepskin.
I don't mean to sound bitchy, but silicone is non-porous and can be boiled. Aside from metal and glass, it's the safest option.
The only thing that really causes degradation in silicone is using a silicone lube, which is what is on most condoms so be careful!
But make sure it's really silicone! I bought some toys that looked like it, felt like it, but gave me a horrible allergic reaction and when I broke it open, found it to be jelly![]()
You beat me to the punch. Silicone is non-porous. It's the jelly, rubber, etc toys that you can't truley sanitize.
More importantly you should be looking for Phthalate-free products.
I don't like glass toys AT ALL. They just don't feel right.
I bow to your wisdom. However, I ALWAYS use a condom on my toys because I play with other girls a lot. I assumed it was porous by now becaus of the breakdown. Mybad for not being clear.
Babeland has an awsome breakdown of the different materials used for sex toys. They cover silicone, silicone/rubber mixes, VixSkin silicone, elastomer, jelly, cyberskin, soft vinyl, glass, metal, acrylic, Lucite, and TPE plastics. They discuss porousity and cleaning methods and general care.
It's well worth the read.
Click here for the whole thing.
They also have a great article about phthalates here.

I don't know about expiration, but make sure the batteries aren't old and yucky. I don't know specifically what the cause was, but I heard about a woman who had the batteries explode in hers and the battery acid burnt her up all down there. Really fucked up.

^Have you tried warming them up under some hot water first? Or is it just the texture that bugs you?
Have you tried stainless toys? NJOYtoys.com - I can't say enough about them.
